Hi there:  Searching for a jump-off point.  My boyfriend is searching
for his birth mother (she left, there was no adoption involved) and I
was hoping someone could help point me in the right direction so I can
do some searching on my own before hiring an agency.

Again, any help appreciated.

Thanks!

There are those who would object to the use of the term birth mother in
any context, but it is generally used in an adoption context, at least.

For info on how to find someone, see http://www.bastards.org/search/

There's always someone out there ready, willing and able to be offended by
something, anything.  It's their purpose in life... I'm sick of this
politically correct crap!

Which would be why I pointed it out to her.  She doesn't need to
alienate anyone who may be able to help her.

There's a difference between political correctness and tact.  But then
you don't seem to know what the latter is.

I'm sure the OP found your comments helpful.

Had I known this was a pre-requisite for posting, I might have refrained...
But I doubt it...

J.   If anyone is annoyed by the term 'birth mother', that is their
problem.  I know one birthmother who was referred to as 'that other
woman' by the adoptive family.
When someone is really interested in helping they will ignore such so
called 'political correctness' and just help.  Everyone isn't as
educated in the 'correct' terms to use as some people like to think they
are.
Ignore these comments from those who can't or won't help you anyway and
trust that someone will not be so critical and will honestly want to
help.

Good luck in your search.

Roy
