Even though I never agreed with her total anti-adoption stance I admired what Di did in New South Wales in getting the wrongs of past adoption practise recognised and in changing current attitudes and laws. That kind of outburst just sullies her memory

We have all said things at times that might have offended others, but there is no need for that sort of nastiness. Di deserves better. I had thought that she had mellowed in recent years, that perhaps she had become happier. I certainly hope so.

Behind all the Bluster, Di was a person with genuine concern for others, which Joy obviously lacks.
I had heard that things had not been going so well for Di in recent times, I do hope that is in no way connected with her very sad death at a relatively young age. I think we will all miss her whether we agreed with her or not

We don't have to totallly agree with one another to care about each other. aa has lost two of it' most contentious contributers in the last 4 years and we're not the better for it.

Thanks, everyone who's still here. I learned so much on this ng. And Di and Bill were definitely part of that.

I have learned and am learning day-by-day from all of you. A strong, intelligent person who forced you to think about your life and your choices. What a loss.

Notwithstanding the vicious post that started this thread ... I send my condolences and best wishes to those who knew and loved Di.

That's really sad. Her posts here were always worth reading, whether or not you agreed with them. She'll be missed.

It appears you were projecting *your*obsession onto Jackie. You originally came to alt. a proclaiming that Jackie was obsessed with you but based on your posts here it would appear to be the opposite.

She was a strong-willed woman who believed she had been wronged by her society and who wasn't going to let that pass without challenge. She succeeded in many ways, despite what some ( including me ) thought to be a wrong-headed opposition to adoption under any circumstances and a deep seated distrust of all who support adoption, particularly us, the adopters.
She challenged us all in one way or another, whether on a visceral or an intellectual level. We will always need those who can do so. My world is less for her loss.
My condolences to those who have lost a friend to a painful disease.
