Dad - 28 May 2008 23:12 GMT Phew. Our son graduated from High School last night - alive and kickin'. :) I had no idea, but he even rec'd a major service award! I'm very proud of him - he's come a loooooong way in the last 12 months. Just a moment ago he was only five and clinging to my side everywhere we went. I miss those times.
<sniff>

Tempus has been busy fugiting all round. Ours just graduated college! Also received an academic award... We had some moments of cluelessness with this kid, but looks like he survived.
Due to him, I've been hanging around this grp for 16 years. Wonder what became of all the people who started out here.

Due to him, I've been hanging around this grp for 16 years. Wonder what became of all the people who started out here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Cheers to all those Grads and those who nurture them. Don't remember when I began posting on aa but it seems like many years ago. Contact with my birthfamily consists of receiving a birthday card once a year from my birthmom. Would have liked for things to be different but that's life. I am working full time and enjoying being a grandparent to 5. For anyone who remembers miracle "baby James", he will enter kindergarden this fall! Kathy J

Where has time gone? I have 'almost' six grandkids. My bgrandkids are now 11 and 9, and my two other son's kids range in age 4, 3, 18 months and one on the way in August. When does life slow down? LOL, they keep me hopping!

My son did the same last year, and it was way more than a thrill watching him walk on stage and receive the school's annual award.
It is hard to believe how far some of our kids have come: the ones that start off in such a dark place - your boy with his packed bags, and my boy with his silence.
And what a privilege it is to call ourselves their parents!
Hugs to you and yours, Julia

We had some great arguments out here.
Yes, I wish the ones who've gone off elsewhere would pop back in and update us, at least!

Blast from the past, as I used to come on here and get pummeled, but my akids are almost all grown up as well.
Our a- son, 20, is trying to get in the Sheriff Academy. Our a- daughter is 16 and going into her junior year in high school. It is nice to hear that everyone is doing well.

How are your boys? They must be nearly grown as well? It happens fast eh?
I just stumbled on here recently, and I couldnt believe the thread was about' long lost posters'
I have not been on the adoption boards at all lately. It seems that for the most recent past several years, it has not been our biggest issue. Other more pressing concerns- college- car insurance- etc took over.
My daughter did say something interesting the other day about adoption though. We saw Angelina Jolie on a mag cover at the market, and she said " they're crazy. They are seriously out of control. I hope nobody lets them adopt any more babies. I would hate to be Zahara, with her little bio siblings and all- her life is going to suck. She will always be compared to Shiloh, and she will never feel she can measure up."
Anyway, I thought it was interesting, it really made her angry, and she usually doesnt care what celebs do . I came here to see if anyone was discussing the Jolie-pitt family basicly...

Our kids are great .but---- Our son, unfortunately, just got out of a 3 year relationship, and he is kind of devastated right now. Ugh, FIRST love. first real heartbreak. It is so hard.
At least his little sister is being really nice to him --instead of the usual bickering ...they have been hanging out and going to the movies together. miraculous stuff...
That is wonderful to hear about your son and your grandchildren. It must be nice to buy the little one presents. Knowing you , you probably create something amazing and artistic. And congrats on your country retirement. That sounds beautiful.

I hang out on adoption.com watching out for the women that have been in hiding and needing some help.. adoption.com seems to be the first place a lot of them hit.. I do needlepoint and am taking photos of my flowers and breaking them down into patterns and am now doing a watercolor of those patterns..
I am glad you took that woman in btw.. I was so wrong on that one..

I did see what your issues were and I did have to really, really, take an emotional inventory to see what our true motivations were. In the end I was okay with it because of the very unique circumstances. But I am glad you so aggressively called me on it because I did learn of the other side of the issues, and things I hadn't considered.
Our daughter really treasures the pictures and videos and memories of her bmom and so I am glad they had that time together. She especially loves the pictures of her bmom, pregnant, and I realized that alot of adoptees miss out on that phase. It is sometimes a shameful, sad phase , so I am glad we did not have to go through it in that way.
This is all a journey. I realized yesterday, when my mother called us about the earthquake, that a parent never stops worrying. ever.....

Yea, that was a while ago -but it was such an amazing experience for all of us. We got to spend a lot of time in London and it was amazing.
She has grown quite a bit since then of course. Now that she is 16, she KNOWS everything there is to know- as I am sure you are aware...lol

Then they would kindly offer parenting advice to their totally clueless mom. Fortunately, we all seem to have survived.
