I am using Lux Flakes for the girls clothes due to Bella's skin
irritation..

Well it doesn't clean their clothes properly they still look dirty... Is
there a way to clean them better??
Can I use pre-wash stain remover, or does that just defeat the purpose??

That's one reason I switched to something different. Are you dissolving the
soap first before putting in the clothes? I'd use the stain remover as it
will get rinsed off twice in the wash anyway.

Kelly, what i used to do, with my dd, who was allergic to the perfumes
in everything, was washing normally, and then wash again, without
anything.. ie two washes one with normal detergent. one with nothing.

This is what I do, (both DH and Mr 2 get excema)

If you do an extra wash and/or rinse there's no need to use
'special'(expensive) detergents.
Because we have a fount loader I use either 'Duomatic' or 'Dynamatic'
depending on which is cheaper.
Choose one without too much perfume and 'experiment' with amounts, the
recommended amount is usually way too much (they just want you to buy more).
I also sort the washing according to how dirty they are and/or whether
they're worn against the skin, or are outer clothes - the 'dirtier' ones
get more deterg.
And, if you need fabric softener, white vinegar is great - also kills
any lingering germs, especially if you wash in cold water as I usually
do.....

Have you tried OMO sensitive? Do you hang them in the sun, this is good for
whitening stuff...

I find fabric softeners a bit too highly perfumed, are there any that
aren't stinky, or is that one of the things you like about them?

thats what I like, the stink factor.
highly perfumed things appeal to me at the moment.
especially sweet fragrances.
I remember perfume used to make me ill when pregnant with MissyV and
seedy with MissyA, but this time I *love* it.
I wear a heap and when something smells shonky I stick my head down my
top :p

Really, I didn't think it had a smell....hmm must sniff next time, I use the
cuddly pure fabric softener at 1/2 the recommended amount for DS. For the
rest of us we use whatever big box(15kg) is on special at bigw, at the
moment its fab...I prefer OMO though.

I used to use Omo, (well omomatic) all the time as it was the only good
fount loading detergent around. I never really noticed a scent until I
was preggers, now it's one of those smells I'd prefer not to have around!
Thank goodness theres are a few other good fount load deterg around
these days......
