This morning, my left breast just plain doesn't want to let down-and it's
full enough to be uncomfortable. I can't maintain suction on the lactina on
that side (and have swapped out everything-valve, horn, bottle, tubing,
top/bottom slot on the pump) Hand pumping with the Avent is painful, and
netted less than an ounce before it stopped-with the breast still obviously
unpumped (I would typically pump about 5 oz on the first pumping of the day
on that side). I tried to nurse DD, and she ended up crying and frustrated
because nothing would come out (which is the exact LAST experience I want
her to have-any frustration leads to nursing strikes very easily).

I have GOT to get that breast drained-not only can I not afford to lose the
supply from that side and keep Alli exclusively on breast milk, but it's
only going to hurt more before it gets better.

could be the start of a plugged duct, suggest a hot shower might help, and
breast massage, can you hand express at all? It always took me longer to get
a let down doing it by hand, but I don't think I ever failed to get one if
that was my aim.

I was also going to suggest a hot shower. Or warm compresses. Good luck!

I'd try a hot bath and totally submerge your breasts. I bet the hot bath
will relax you and encourage a let down. I remember in the beginning when I
was doing sitz baths my milk would always let down while I was in the tub.
You have said Ali will nurse in the bath, what about trying that agian? HTH

Strange but true.  My breast wouldn't let down until I started reading
while I was pumping.  The reading allowed me to relax enough so that I
was able to let down.  Maybe watching TV or whatever relaxes you will
help.  Good luck.
