jellybean nursing pillow?

Melania - 16 Apr 2005 00:34 GMT I'm shopping around for a nursing pillow for #2 - #1's pillow is old and flattened, and I sort of think it's something they should each have their own special one of . . .
#1's pillow is a "Baby Sitter" made by Jolly Jumper. It's okay, but flatter and floppier than the Boppy pillows I've had the good fortune to borrow at others' homes.
Unfortunately, I can't find a store anywhere here that sells the Boppy. In fact, I can't even find an online store that will ship to Canada that sells them!!
One store here carries a Jellybean brand pillow that looks rather like the Boppy - but it's $60 Cdn, which seems steep to me. http://www.jellybeanbaby.com/pillows.htm
I haven't been to the store, because it's not near here and we don't have a car, and I'm wondering before I make an epic trip if anyone else has had or used one of these and liked it?

V. - 16 Apr 2005 00:55 GMT Here's a link to buy the Boppy online in Canada http://www.twinklelittlestar.com/boppy.html It's 39.95, I assume Canadian :) Haven't used the site, just came across it when looking at Boppy pillows in general. Amy

The site actually says "you won't find Boppy pillows online anywhere else in Canada" - which I believe!!

They sell some stuff that they'll ship, but this is one they won't ship out of the continental USA.

Perhaps they have an analogous product?

OTOH, they have the anatomically correct newborn doll I've been scouring the net for, for ds!!

Having used both types, I have to say the MBF is vastly superior to the Boppy. It has lumbar support, it's kind of stiffer and has a head support for the baby to keep their little spine in alignment, it stays put better, and is more comfortable - for me. I'm sure others may disagree.

I'm sure others may disagree. I guess it's a YMMV thing - I borrowed a friend's MBF a couple of times and didn't find it comfortable. I picked up the Jellybean, in the end. Hope I like it!

I liked your Jellybean too, Melania! When I saw the MBF at Crocodile I thought it was perhaps a little too big? Anyhoo, I have no idea how any of this works - maybe I need to buy one of each... ;-)

They have a wide variety of Boppy stuff. :-) I can ask my friend in Calgary if she is near this store.

Mel - 16 Apr 2005 02:10 GMT http://www.joysearthlygoods.com/Diapering.html has WAHM made boppy type pillows it looks like as well. A little pricey but they are cool looking and it is always good to support a WAHM. :)

Katie - 25 Apr 2005 06:10 GMT >I'm shopping around for a nursing pillow Hi Melania,
I'm answering kind of late but thought I'd go for it anyway, on the off chance that you haven't bought one yet...
I have a nursing pillow by Bummis and I LOVE it. DS is asleep on my lap on it as I'm typing this. He's 18 months now and I've used it since the day he was born. It's held up really well. I just bought one for my sister-in-law and she loves it, too.
Here is the webpage for them: http://www.bummis.com/en/Products/KuddleRing.html.
Anyway, they've got a removable cotton cover, a fabric sewn-on carrying handle (which is really handy), and a little sewn-on pocket (where I kept a couple of spit-up cloths when DS was tiny).
Discount Diapers sells them. They've got a store on West 10th Ave. and one in Richmond on Bridgeport. I think I paid about $45 for SIL's.
Hope that helps!

Melania - 25 Apr 2005 16:04 GMT > >I'm shopping around for a nursing pillow > [quoted text clipped - 22 lines] > > Katie (also in Vancouver) Thanks Katie! I actually ended up buying the Jellybean one at Crocodile on 4th on Saturday. The Bummis one does sound really nice, but I think at this stage I'll just sticke with the Jellybean (it doesn't have a pocket or a handle, but it does have a nylon undercover, with a removable cotton cover, which will make it easy to clean).
Thanks though!

On a side note, it's weird to think of someone else on mkp or mkb going to a store so close to me! I always picture everyone else on usenet as being really far away for some reason LOL.
