Morgan went poo 3 times today. Her bum and jamjay (you know what this is)
are very red.
Could the vitamin drops be causing this?
~Carol Ann
Has she been eating anything else that could be the culprit? Anything
acidic, like orange juice, mandarin orange slices, etc? If not, then I'd
think maybe it was the vitamins, but how much vitamin does she get at a
time? If its a liquid or a pill, perhaps try splitting the dose and giving
it to her morning and night, instead of all at once. It also could just be
a random thing. Every once in a while Taylor will have a poo that causes her
to go bright red. A little ointment and she's back in business by the next
pull-up change.

She has been eating allot of fruit lately. Watermelon, blueberries,
plums.......awwwwww wait a sec.........plums. She got ahold of a really
sour one at the store (while my mother was watching her).
I wonder..........
I'll take your suggestion to split the dosage. She actually seems to like
it, so Morgan may like having it split up.
Thank you!!!!!

Samantha has been on PolyViSol since she was discharged from the NICU
(it seems pediatricians feel that preemies are more inclined for
anemia). The only thing she's ever had a problem with is occasional
dark stools of varying degrees of colors(I won't go into color...might
be TMI;) This frightened me at first but I was assured the iron in the
vitamins and her immature digestive tract. I know you guys are beyond
the "immature digestive tract"=)

Hi Carol Ann.
I have no idea about the vitamin drops, but IME tea tree ointment is fab
for sore baby bums.

Again, I don't know specifically about the vitamin drops, but this
symptom is classic for when an infant eats highly acid foods such as
strawberry, pineapple, tomato or orange? If you can rule out anything
like this, it may be the drops. See if they test acid on a litmus
strip! :-)

I'm going to continue with the drops, but watch her plum intake. She has
been eating quite a bit of fruit lately.
She doesn't seem to want to eat much else......

When A was wanting *a lot* of fruit, I thought, "great!!" and indulged
her. She gets a red, sore bum when she eats too much, although
watermelon and cantalope don't seem to bother her.
