What to drink at night after weaning?

Hi,

I'm in the process of weaning.  I'm down to morning and night (before
bed).  I'm close to dropping the morning feeding (which I think he's
ready, since he points to the door when I come in and fights my nursing
him).  After that, I'll only have the nighttime one.

My son WON'T drink anything other than water.  I've tried EBM, Milk,
Goats milk, Soy milk, combos of EBM/other....nada.

My question to the group is what do I give my son at night in place of
the nursing?  He's soo close to not wanting to nurse anymore...do I not
offer anything else?  He eats so little at meals, I feel like I should
offer something.  But he won't take anything to drink...

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

myself and added some water to it and thats what he drank could help its
good for them and not full of sugar and the natrual sugar in it will be less
if u add the water to it but i would not give juice bought from a shop if u
can just juice some urself if u can

Is it that he doesn't want anything?  If so, no reason to drink anything.
If he's fussy because he's thirsty, there's nothing wrong with water, it's
very good for you.  Sometimes my kids drink water, sometimes milk, sometimes
nothing.  After they're potty trained you will be happy if they don't want
anything to drink right before bed :-)  Kids will not starve themselves, if
they are hungry enough they WILL eat.  My daughter eats like a bird (she is
4, and her 2 year old brother eats loads more than her, just different
metabolisms/appetites).  Sometimes she eats one small meal a day and other
days she eats alot.  Just depends on how hungry she is.  Don't forget their
tummys are much smaller than ours.  Plus they haven't learned to ignore
their instincts that tell them when they are full, and we don't want them to
:-)  As for the milk, my 4 year old didn't like it at first, but I think she
just preferred b/m.  I tried warming it up and that seemed to help, now she
loves milk.  After we switched to organic milk I stopped warming it up
because I hated wasting it if she didn't finish it, so she just got used to
drinking it cold.

Good luck!

He'll drink water until he floats away...

I was just curious what others have done after finishing with the night
nursing.

Thanks!!

Clever little boy -- it's the best drink you can give him!

Water is fine, and is better for his teeth than the rest of the options
you listed.

I give my daughter a sippy cup with water at night.  Works just fine.

Water is perfectly fine. You don't need to worry with other liquids.

hehe I read the header and thought Ooooh, I've got lots of great things
to drink after weaning... ;) but you were talking about the *kid*.
hehe

Anyway, I left sippy cups of water in the crib with Micah.
