I have just been granted a divorce. My wife has terribly poisoned my kids
against me. I have gone to supervised visitation for 18mo. I have never
given my kids any reason to believe they are at risk. My children refuse to
drive with me. They always make their mother drive and drop them. She stays
and often interferes with visitation.

How can I resolve this situation? I'd like the kids to ride with me. Can I
go to family court? Are there any legal options?

First, let me say that its good to see a post about a "real" issue in
this NG.  So, thanks.  But let me tell you that, IMHO, there's some
reason why your kids do not want to drive with you other than the
"poisoning" by your ex-wife.  Kids are fairly intuitive and they are
not going to act this way just on her say-so.  I tend to believe that
you are hiding something from us.

But to answer your question, you can always go to family court to
ask that custody and visitation be modified, but the question is will
the court do so?  Generally, courts do not like to change a kid's
routine, especially this quickly after a divorce, believing that they've
been thru enuff stress already.  Its best to wait at least six months or
better, one year, before asking a court to revisit this issue.  When
you do, you'll need to show why  its in their best interest to do so.
