Anybody can read the messages. Can you prohibit somebody from posting if that person is either spamming or is a stalking psychopath? I would rather prefer a forum where only members can read posts. alt.support.divorce is an open group but it has been abused lately to much. It also would be good if posts would be automatically deleted after 6 months. I have seen plenty of abuse there. Remember the guy who posted something in 2002 and then a psychopathic stalker come along and reposted that old post but added names and insults to this post? The innocent guy who posted the first non insulting post in 2002 was later arrested, put to jail and faced up to charges because of the insults and spam posted by the particular psychopathic stalker. Finlay the stalker was arrested and faces court this month which didn't stop the police in one other very small not very democratic country to charge the old poster from 2002 anyway. I think no message should be kept longer then 6 months and people should be reminded over and over again never to mention their real name in any open forum or group neither the real name of anybody they know. ASD on the web is "semi-moderated" in the sense that, there is no person or person who actively moderates or screens posts; however, a few "founders" posses administrative control over the format and content of the website, and they have the power to delete posts or even entire topics ("discussions") that are patently offensive or merely obsolete. B. The bad thing about the normal Usenet is that if you just make one mistake it will be there for up to 10 years and any vicious person can and will look in to all your posts going back in time searching for the one particular message to backstab you.
