No right decision

I got to thinking the other day while I was golfing... you know those
situations where you're in a bind and about the only choices you have
are bad and worse, the rock-and-the-hard-space thing. You have a
choice, sure, but do you want to be the fish or the worm? Both are
gonna get eaten.

So it makes me wonder, if nothing you do is right, does that mean
nothing you do is wrong? Like since there ~is~ no right answer, how
can you be wrong?

Every action is wrong, ergo every action is right. Just like in golf
-- every shot sucks, but you made contact with the ball, so they're
all good shots.

Mondays kill me...

I realize you might not be reading this --- but, JIC  I am a low single
digit player.  Not every shot in golf sucks; just those poorly struck
ones leaving you in a place that you hadn't anticipated (consequence for
a poorly struck ball); then requiring the best of bad choices; or let's
say taking ones medicine.

Golf is a microcosm of our lives, starting with the first decision;
which tees' to play?  From then on it's about keeping the eye on the
goal while acknowledging worse possible outcome based on one's skill,
choosing the optimal; then how you handle facing the mess you got
yourself there after; that's the real tell for all to see.  Unthought
out bad choice after bad choice letting the surroundings affect outcome.

Now, I am off to play golf with some friends today...

One could also say that No-Limit Hold 'em Poker is a good analogy for
life.

1.  It takes years to become a skilled player.
2.  No matter what your skill level, some days you are just dealt
hands that you can't win with.
3.  Periodically, opportunities arise to 'go for it' where you can win
big.
4.  Over the long haul, your overall experience will be based on your
ability to foretell good decisions.
5.  Patience is a virtue.
6.  Sometimes you can bluff your way out of trouble.

I disagree - and, not because I think golf is life's answer; its just
that golf faces each player with "situations similar in nature" to what
they might face in their normal life.  Poker and Hockey doesn't remotely
do that; as I've experience since learning to play poker and played
hockey as a farm kid in the mid-west.

Golf faces each player regardless of skill with a obstacles and
conditions requiring acknowledgement, then assessment, followed by
decision, then "execution" of skill working towards a optimum strokes
per hole and the holes vary on all course with the rules remaining the
same.  Golf doesn't deal anyone obstacles that can't be dealt with,
there is a solution for all.  Which isn't the case with poker or hockey
when the 3 best players are out.
Poker, on the other hand comes down to you either win or loose based on
some judgement, guesstimating, and some luck, and ability to read tells
and or counting cards (known as cheating).  Each poker game offers
limited number of choices, and a game can be over is minutes not
allowing one to minimize the outcome.
In golf, there's NEVER a winner against a golf course; which is who we
play in a tournament.  Yes, there's some luck but, it's not nearly as
prevalent as when playing any type of card game.  In golf, we "can't" go
for it either, NO matter how good we are; and can't bluff the golf
course or an obstacle. ;-)

Hockey is like football (which I played for 7yrs), baseball, soccer and
other team sports - regardless of how good one person is at their chosen
task - winning or loosing is the result of team effort and if others
succeed or fail at their individual tasks.
