TALLAHASSEE -- Lucy Hadi, a longtime state worker now assigned to Gov.
Jeb Bush's Office of Policy and Budget, was named Wednesday as interim
head of the Department of Children & Families.
She will take over for Jerry Regier on Sept. 15, Bush said.
Regier said earlier this month that he was resigning.
He and the child-welfare agency have been hounded by questions about
how Regier dealt with contracting child-welfare work to private
companies.
Hadi, 58, will lead the department until a permanent replacement is
named.
A native of Amelia Island, she has worked at DCF in the past, as
deputy secretary, and also worked two years as Interim Director at the
Agency for Workforce Innovation.
"Lucy's background in social services reform, health and welfare
services and her knowledge of information technology will enable her
to make a significant contribution immediately," said Bush.
Meantime, Celeste F. Lewis, 39, was appointed chief of staff for Lt.
Gov. Toni Jennings.

Another political appointee. She has documented ethics violations, too.
