I'm wondering if our son isn't getting a solid night's rest since he
cosleeps?

Our DS has been cosleeping with us from the beginning. I snore though
I lay face away so its not so bad, and it's not always a chainsaw
snore every night.

He goes to bed around 7PM and wakes up around 6AM.

When he wakes up he's ready to go. Eats breakfast, everything. But he
needs a nap around 9/10AM, 3 hours later. Whether at daycare or at
home.

He also gets a nap after lunch and before dinner, about 1 hr or so.

Is that morning nap a sign he's not sleeping well? Or is it normal? Or
is it just our son and all babies are different.

Thanks!

Hi --

Two naps a day are normal at 16 months.  He's likely to transition to
one nap a day in the next few months ... a difficult transition!  He may
continue to take one nap a day for several more years ... or not.  (One
of my kids eliminated naps completely well before his 3rd birthday; the
other needed naps right into the first part of kindergarten, age 5.)

Any of the above.  Some babies grow out of morning
naps by around a year of age, but it's perfectly normal for
some to continue a morning nap for longer.

Best wishes,

At 16 months:
#1 slept 12 hours at night (8:30-8:30) and 2-3hours in the afternoon.
(2:00-5:00)
#2 slept about 10 hours at night (9:30-7:30)with about 2 wakings and 2x 1
hour naps during the day. (at about 11am and 3pm)
#3 (at present-15 months) sleeps 12 hours at night (7:30-7:30) with about
1-2 wakings and about a 2 hour sleep round late morning. (11:00-1:00)
