my 12 month old daughter went in and had her vaccines a week ago and i
noticed some bruising at the site the next night while giving her a
bath.  my the next morning (2 days after the shots) i noticed that she
had these welt like marks on her leg and the marks stood out or were
raised to the touch.  i kept an eye on them over the next 24 hours.
tonight in the bath tub i noticed that they are still there.  the
bruising has gone away but after the bruising left these welt marks
came along.  it has now been 5 days since she had the shots does anyone
out there have any idea what this might be caused from?  should i be
really concerned and call the doctor?  i hate to be one of those moms
that are running in there everytime something happens to my kid.

It doesnt sound like you need to worry.
BUT you know what, I put alot of importance in mothers intuition, and if you
are a little worried, go and ask your doctor. It wont hurt.
All the best

Hi --

I'd have called the ped. as soon as I saw the marks starting to spread.
If they're still there, call now.  If they've faded, be SURE to mention
it at the next visit.

It sounds like she's having a reaction to the shot and they may last 4-5
days.

Do you have a "Call-a-Nurse" line?  My local hospital has one as well as
our BC/BS insurance.  I tend to call them with these types of questions.
They are pretty good at saying "you need to see a doctor right away"
or "that's okay, you just need to wait it out".

My son had lumps for weeks after his shots. Like your baby, he had a
reaction to the shot (IIRC, it was the DTaP) and had a red rash that spread
but had stopped by the next day. I drew pen marks around it to see if it
spread. It wasn't anything worrysome, but as usual call your ped's office if
you aren't sure.
