silly question but is there any reason why a preschoolers belly button would
suddenly pop out, I'm concerned it could be a sign of dehydration as he's
sick right now.

Maybe a hernia?  I'd at least call your doctor/care provider.

wouldn't a hernia be unlikely, particular when he's inactive at the moment

anyway, I'd been asked to give the doctor and update today, so I mentioned
it when I left a message, if it's a hernia, unless he's in pain, it's not
urgent, dehydration on the other hand is, and to my knowledge he has not
urinated today and he's only drinking sips.

Xaviers does this often.. it is weird.  I have wondered if I should take him
in.  I was worried about hernias. :-/
