"I just got a call from a friend who is a prison guard at DVI in
Tracy, Ca.  He wanted me to warn everyone about a new gang initiation.
He learned about this from the inmates in jail.
Initiation started on April 24th and this is what they do:
At a stop light/sign they will 'bump' your car.  You will then
get out to see what is going on then... they will shoot you.  This is
happening across the state.  Everyone is a target, but mainly females."

No, just people who like telling each other scary stories.

This is an urban legend (with many, many variants over the years).

Thanks Doug.
I will pass on this info to the person who passed this on to me.

By the way, not sure if you remember the incident that happened at our
elementary school last year...a schizophrenic man that had wandered on
campus and refused to leave, so the school took action by "locking down"?

The school has started to build a fence around the property and I am not
sure how I feel about it.
I suppose it could be a good deterrent, but as it is only 41/2 feet high,
does it really do the job?

I know that schools like fences.  I think part of the job a fence does
for the school is make it easier to keep track of the _kids_.  Which
is reasonable since they do have responsibility for the kids.

From my point of view the actual amount of stranger danger is not high
enough to warrant raising the fear level by trying to fence people out
- if it was my kids school I'd be more sympathetic to the idea of a
fence to keep the kids in (for which 4 1/2 feet seems like it is
probably enough).

I suppose.  Although I have not heard anything about kids wandering off
campus.

Yes, this also seems to be a more theoretical concern than a real one.

But at least I understand that whoever's job it is to keep an eye on
kids in the playground might find that job easier with a fence.

Its enough to keep dogs out of the playground, which might be another valid
concern if there are people in the area who are casual about the leash laws.

Y'know, after you've been on the 'net for a while, you're supposed to
get used to seeing this stuff.

Clearly my chain was pulled.  Gullible is my middle name.
Honestly I did not mean to stroke the paranoia beast.
Thanks for the heads up.

Poo.
I don't think I am *that* bad!

Let's see....
I didn't post about waking up in a tub of ice with my kidneys stolen  or
Proctor and Gamble being run by the Church of Satan    or
sitting on a needle at the theatre and getting HIV.

But there is always time.

I used to answer consumer calls about P&G and Satan back in the early
80's, when you were probably just a youngin'.  Amazing that old canard
is still out there.....
