I have decided it's time to go.
Tai: I know you hate it when people announce they are leaving, but I hate
it when people just disappear and you don't realize until weeks later that
they haven't posted in awhile.
I really miss Nina, and Lauri, and Jen. I wish they'd stuck around. And
most of all I miss Cailleach. Cailleach, if you happen to read this, my
e-mail is still good, and I'd love to hear from you.
Doug, I really like you. I know that we can have some nasty exchanges
during the debates, and I admit I can find you frustrating at times, but I
really do like you. So, no hard feelings, ok?
There are a lot of other people I will miss too, but as I said, my e-mail is
good and I would love to hear from you. :-)

I don't understand why it's time to go. But I don't think the others have
permanently left, either. This is more like ... "Hotel California".

Bill - Very apropos. One of my favorite tunes of all time.
Xorra - I don't know why you feel the need to "leave", but if you do, I
will miss you, and wish you well. If the last time I posted seemed "not
nice", that would be because I lack the communication skills to express
myself as well as Sarah can.
I hope you change your mind.

Xorra - that was very gracious and I appreciate it.
I sincerely hope the future finds you in a better situation than you
are in now.

I do? Actually, no I don't hate it, although I am sad when it's someone I
will miss. Perhaps you're confused over my saying it's silly for posters to
flounce off a newsgroup in a temper! (Since you're not doing that this time
obviously I wouldn't have a problem with an announcement.)
This is probably a wise decision for you at this point in your life, in that
I believe your energies would be better spent on maintaining and extending
your real-life relationships. I hope you do that rather than go looking for
a replacement online forum but whatever you decide to do I wish you well and
that you will someday be very much happier than you are now. Good luck!

I find the net very therapeutic; hope you come back soon and don't
worry about saying you wouldn't -- everybody does that.
Have a nice break.

Same here. I'm sure we all say and do some things we wish we hadn't, at
some point in our lives. Somehow, we have to let go of it. Easier said
than done.

Yes and Yes. Even if it hasn't been true for you yet. Likely it will
someday.

You'll be a lot better off for having left this rats nest of
selfishly motivated egocentrics. You'll see.
Good Luck to you.

I will keep thinking about you, Xorra. Whether you stay away or come back,
is up to you. I left my 12-step group when I decided that it was only a
social meeting for me. In this group, I largely browse these days. Each of
us knows when it is time to move on.

Helen's comment is a bit too "black or white" for me. :-)
If you're in the middle of the ocean, how does one "move on"? (rhetorical

Both of you (Fill & Bill) gave me a smile on this interchange. My
original response to Bill was going to be "One step at a time" :-)
But I go distracted.I had to take a few minutes to think about the life
experience associated with that, and what it meant, but it was asking
for a funny response. I was just slow on the up-swing.
