(sighs)
People should be wary of anyone talking about
*anything* traditional... after all:
Women as Property is traditional.
(especially in "traditional marriage")
Enslaving People is traditional.
Smoking Cigarettes is traditional.
Having a Lynch Mob Hanging People from
Trees is traditional, too!
Some traditions make some sense, but, given
the economic pressures in the world today,
some traditions make less sense, and, so, we
must try to evolve new traditions.
One tradition that would help cut down on the
population of jackals in government (and even
around government, like lobbyists) would be
to bring back Dueling.
While I understand that some people are using
this to *defend* marriage, why not see how to
evolve it to the next phase?
If traditional marriage is on the defensive,
perhaps there's a good reason?
To quote John Brunner's book "Shockwave Rider":
There are two kinds of fools:
One who says "This is old, and so is good"
Another who says "This is new, and so is
better"
Hmmmmmmm...
I seem to be in the middle of a minefield.
(dons black and white clothing, wanders about
and disappears with a loud *BOOM!*)
Darn. I was hoping it was a mimefield. I
gotta pay more attention.
