I heard Chewy chuckling over at his computer.  He turned around to tell
me what had him chuckling.

He's found info on a program that allows one to write a Perl script in
a subset of Latin.

My DH has a computer all set up in 'his' office, (spare bed room which
is way bigger than my office) which is at the other end of the house
from where mine is...but he always uses my computer in my office, cos
his office looks like a bomb has hit it and I tell ya..i don't think
he'd be able to find his puter!

A long time ago, long before we bought it, our house had a front porch.
When the children of the family who owned the home were all grown and
had families of their own, the gentleman walled in the front porch so
they'd have extra room for beds when everyone came home to visit.  It
made one room the entire width of the house.

At one point, we had 4 working computers out here.  Currently, we only
have two here.  One half is supposed to be the farm office and the
other work is supposed to be work area for the kids to do their school
work.  We're currently functioning in just one half, the other
resembles your husband's office.  lol

And..i must admit..my office doesn't look far different! One thing we
tend to do is shut the doors of our offices..and when people come
over...god forbid if for any reason they need to come into either of
our offices..cos..hmm...<Looking around> there's a big need for a
'sortout'!

But yeah, at least my puter is easily accessible..at the moment, it's
my best friend!!

You'd prefer he was surfing the porn, gambling or dating sites? C'mon,
admit it...that programming-geek thing he's got going on is part of
what attracted you to him, one of the reasons you married him in fact.
You bought the package, now you gotta eat the cookie!

In case anyone needs it, here is a link to a test you can take to
determine if you are a nerd, geek, dork, or normal.  I will confess
here to the whole world, I took the test and determined that I am a
nerd.  Whaddayagonnado?

What are you if you simply could not keep answering question after
question after question and finally gave up?

I think I took about 3 pages worth and then just said "screw it."  I
have a huge focusing issue since my dx.  It's repulsive and very
frustrating :-(

That's OK.  We will adopt you as an honorary nerd!

The test itself was three pages long, so you were done the test, if you did
three pages.  HOWEVER.. then you have to give this info: city, birthday,
etc... then pick a screen name... not one of the screennames I gave was
accepted, so I took the f.cking test and then got bupkis.

Weird!  They didn't require me to do any of that.  I had the option
but I just skipped it and it let me continue.

ahhhh.. just finally got the results:

My score on The Nerd? Geek? or Dork? Test:

**************************************

   Pure Dork
   (30 % Nerd, 30% Geek, 73% Dork)

LOL...is it dorky to say that the totals don't add up?

To be perfectly honest; I didn't know that there were really any
diferences between the three.  Does that make me all three?

It makes you none of them!  (Well, it could make you a geek, but I
don't think it does.)

I'm "pure nerd," (86% nerd, 26% geek, 34% dork).  And yes,  I think it
_does_ make you a dork if (like me) you are bothered by the fact that
the percentages don't add to 100%!

And being the pure nerd,  I think what they are telling me is that I'm
in the 86th percentile for nerdiness on some scale (though since they
don't explicitly say this, who knows), the 26th percentile for
geekiness on some other scale, etc.

Of course since this quiz is just for fun and has no scientific value
anyway, at this point I've spent more time thinking about it than it
is worth (and possibly more than the authors)!

For the record, as I understand it these are the definitions:

Nerd - someone who places an emphasis on knowledge and learning to a
much greater degree than would an average person.

Geek - someone who is intensely interested in one particular field or
area.  You can be a computer geek or a music geek, etc.

Dork - someone lacking in social skills.

Based on these definitions, it could be considered nerdy or geeky to
object to the fact that the totals don't add up to 100%.  But it would
not be dorky.

Me either...which is maybe why i got what i got...hmm...

"Modern, Cool Nerd
86 % Nerd, 73% Geek, 21% Dork "

and then below is what they told me the descriptions of nerd, geek,
dork are!

"For The Record:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being
smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or
subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social
expectations/interactions.
You scored better than half in Nerd and Geek, earning you the title of:
Modern, Cool Nerd.

Nerds didn't use to be cool, but in the 90's that all changed. It used
to be that, if you were a computer expert, you had to wear plaid or a
pocket protector or suspenders or something that announced to the world
that you couldn't quite fit in. Not anymore. Now, the intelligent and
geeky have eked out for themselves a modicum of respect at the very
least, and "geek is chic." The Modern, Cool Nerd is intelligent,
knowledgable and always the person to call in a crisis (needing
computer advice/an arcane bit of trivia knowledge). They are the one
you want as your lifeline in Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (or the one
up there, winning the million bucks)! "

It's all a bit ne-ge-do isn't it! (eclectic!)

 82, 17, 56, but, of course, the questions weren't well-framed :-)

For a lengthier nerdity test, see:
http://home.rochester.rr.com/jbennett/nerd/
Update the technologies some, this is an old test.  Email is no
longer a nerdly technology, and 14.4 k modems are almost as archaic
now as the sub-370 baud modems were at the time the test came out.

See also the credits page, and recall that I was rmg3@psuvm.edu :-)

Umm... is it a good thing or a bad thing?

(Was a cheerleader from 7th grade to 11th grade.. didn't get a chance to
try out for my senior year, since we moved two weeks into the school year
and they'd had tryouts in the spring)...

Also, made All-Stars as a centerfielder in softball :-)

Heh.  A nerd, are you?

I did that quiz ages ago and had everyone in the house take it, just
for kicks.  I scored "nerd," Chewy scored "geek," YS scored "dork," and
everyone else scored somewhere in-between.

Just took the test..and i'm a Modern, Cool Nerd!!! They said the 'mod
cool' bit is cos the geek in me is practically as much as the nerd
bit...how weird!

I'm wondering if Q17 where they asked about knowing another non
traditional language included piglatin - that was my brother and my
language of choice as kids!!!  hehe

Or I wonder if Q28 where they asked if we had clothing with a reference
to popular culture included my phantom of the operal glow in the dark
t-shirt that i wear sometimes at night just to be..well...a....well
'they said it'...a mod cool nerd! haha!

The week back home was a good reminder of why, no matter how much I
