Divorce has become the norm in our Society, As a product of
parents that divorced early on I can see what an ill effect it has had
on my life. I often wondered why my parents didn't stay together.
Growing up in the 80"s I was the "latch key kid" poster child.
I rememeber growing up and sitting in front of the T.V
pretending that I was the kid on the show playing ball with my dad, or
the kid baking cookies with Mom.
Beacuse my Dad and mom split, it forced my mom to work harder so I
saw less and less of her.
As I spent time with my Mom she would blame my Dad for our
Situation, As I spent ime with Dad he blamed Mom. As these two blamed
each other, My veiw of the only two people I cared dearly about became
distorted. Instead of them bringing me up and equipping me with the
tools to engage life. they used me as a pawn to "one up the other" to
see who would end up with my love at the end of the day.
If you make a commitment to get married. I encourage you to beat
the norm, stay together and make it last.
I am sure your kids will be counting on it.

You give a great reason why people should marry with some confidence
that
they can make it last long term. However you provide no details about
how
to do so. That is probably because they weren't showing you what a
desirable relationship should look like, so you have to search on your
own.
Have you found any thing which would help others to create a lasting
relationship?
Having come from a somewhat similar situation, I too have been
searching,
and believe I have found enough answers to make a good start. I hope
to
have a website completed in the next few months showing people a less
haphazard means of forming healthy lasting relationships.
Please share anything you have discovered.
Cheers,
Larry G.
