Seriously, I think google groups is slower than usual lately, so that posts can take from minutes to hours to show up (on google groups!) rather than the usual seconds. > Is anyone seeing my posts? I see this one. But Google has been lagging at posts showing up. It has also been incorrectly stating how many new posts there are (according to Google, neither you nor I has posted in the past 12 hours - it says no one has posted in the past 12 hours on my Google.) While I don't really understand why people have the need to post stars in usenet, in some cases, I can see where one might be tempted to show that they didn't agree with an opinion on a particular issue. I just checked google to see whether it's picking up very recent posts (yes) and I notice that the date stamps for today's posts on the initial screen show April 14. Now, it's just after 8am on April 13 for me but most of you, and many of the google servers as well I suspect, are still working on April 12. So something a little odd is going on! Does this happen often? Google isn't a conventional news-server. It isn't especially unusual for it to be working badly or not working for a period of time. It had a much better interface for searching through the archives though. When I was maintaining linux systems regularly, deja was my reference book! It was a great job for an extreme ADHHHHHHDer. And the people were fantastic to work with! Everyone was different - different sub-cultures, different idiosyncracies, different life styles - and all accepting of those differences and each person's rights to live differently. I've just spent the last 30 minutes on the phone getting my new wireless router configured correctly (our ISP has some odd protocols that require special firmware) and the poor sub-continental gentleman I was speaking to was much more patient with me than I deserved given the frustrated tone I slipped into too often. (I lost my pppoe password and wanted to retrieve it.) A patient helpful person (also from the subcontinent) helped me and I thanked him sincerely. Whoever is doing this; you might contemplate finding something a bit more productive to do????? LOLOL! Oh.....I see that ALLYOU got a one star for writing, "what?" Is that 1 star the equivalent of "one star for effort" or is it a "one star for having no value"? This rating system is a total crack-up.
