I have a king size cotton sheet with a high thread count in very dark
gray color. Is there an easy way to decorate/paint it? I want my 4 and
3 year olds to help me so it has to be very easy. Ideally I'm thinking
of stamping in a fleur de lis or some such design using a gold paint.
It has to be washable.

I've never done anything like this. Any ideas?

Thanks.

you will need to use a waterproof paint, something acrylic
based. this means that it will NOT easily come off anything
the kids get it on besides the sheet.
with that caveat, it sounds like fun. you should be able to
find foam stamps in 3-6" sizes at most craft stores & also
acrylic paints. if there aren't any metallics in the
department devoted to decorating t-shirts & woodenware, look
in the regular artist paints department. you can thin the tube
paints down a bit to make them work well on fabric.
also, you can't move the sheet until the paint dries & you
will have to stamp on a hard surface, so you can't just hang
it on a line to stamp. it won't work.
BTW, if you like doing craft projects with the kids there's a
new magazine out called Living Crafts. it's heavily based on
Waldorf principles, but i liked the premier issue. i found it
yesterday at Borders.

Thanks for the tips. This is the kind of info I'm looking for.
I'm not artistic. I can copy sometimes but never create anything out
of the blue. thanks for the magazine suggestion.
