Hi, dunno if anyone can help with this one.
I'm making microwavable wheat bags. Can I use poly cotton for my inner
bag? I know cotton is fine but will polycotton take the heat?

Thanks.

I wouldn't.  If it doesn't catch fire or melt the first time out the poly
will break down after reheating it a few times.  I would guess that it will
also smell bad after heating.  The more %poly .. the quicker it will melt.
I only use 100% cotton for my corn bags both for the bag and the cover.   I
tried using 100% wool once .. that didn't work out very well at all.  There
was a burn smell in the wool after a couple of heatings.

What kind of wheat do you use?  And where do you get it? I think I would
rather use that than corn.  While the corn holds heat ... it also .. well,
smells like corn. lol

Sorry to take so long to reply - not had 5 mins to myself past few days.
I'm going to use wheat grains from here:

 http://www.browfarmwheatproducts.co.uk/wheatbags_making_kits.htm

They can smell a bit 'bready' if you overheat them, best to do it with a
small glass of water in the microwave after the first couple of
heatings. I've also read that long grain rice (not the quick cook sort)
also works.

When we have made them we use long grain, long cook rice. Works really well.
