Just so that you know, there is a function in google groups - if you
are viewing this via Google Groups - to report spam etc.

Presumably the more people report spam, the less of it there will be.

To report spam use the "more options" link at the top right of each
message, then select "report this message" from the options, and fill
in the form.

I'm cross posting this to some of the other newsgroups who seem to
have been affected by one of the spammers the newsgroup I read is
affected by.

When that actually works to get rid of spammers, let us know!
In other words, google doesn't care, and most USENET users don't use google
groups anyway.

Doesn't matter a damn if they care or not. They don't own or control
Usenet anyway.

Sick of spam?
Stop using using googlegroups to access USENET.
Get a newsreader to access USENET.
Learn to use a killfile.
Use a throwaway email addy the stop spam in your inbox.

Or use a Google Groups killfile:

Don't use google so can't use their killfiles.

Of course, I don't usually killfile, I just delete without reading if
I don't want to read things.

Google Groups does not have a report spam option, gmail does.  Learn
the difference between the two.
