if people would start posting again we could drive the spammers

Last night while sitting in my chair
I pinged a host that wasn't there
It wasn't there again today
The host resolved to NSA.

Very true.

So, what are you up to today?  We got another 6" of snow last night so
the school had a 2 hr. delay.  I love to be able to sleep in :-)

Boo's off this week. he is helping the burn builders.
yesterday he learned how to operate the excavator (apparently
much cooler than the backhoe on the tractor because you can
make it spin). they were levelling the dirt underfloor &
building up around the sills to make it level, but the cement
floor won't be poured until thaw.
today he took his hammer out to help install the doors &
interior walls. i think the roof goes on tomorrow, but we're
due to get your bad weather later this afternoon.
mom's memorial service was scheduled for tomorrow, but dad
moved it to Thursday (better chance mom will arrive in time
anyway)
seriously, your kids let you sleep later on school delay
days? Boo is up at 5 no matter what!

Heck yeh, if the girls don't have school, they don't get up. DD2 could sleep
until noon. And if they get up before me, they don't wake me up.

Boo isn't allowed to wake me up until 6. we're still working
on diferentiating weekends from weekdays, so i can at least
sleep until 6:30 (if i'm asleep. i'm insomniac anyway so i'm
frequently already awake)
maybe he'll sleep later when he gets older... but he's 7.5 &
this has been ongoing since, oh, birth.

well, you had a friend die (unexpectedly, i presume?), and eye
issues & you're DH isn't home for support, so you certainly
have reason to whinge.
my family is a bit abnormal about death, i think. at least i
don't know very many who are making fun that the 'guest of
honor' might not make it for the service...
at any rate, i think the geriatric care & rules about
death/funerals in Florida are pretty whacked. you'd think
they'd be more up on those things, what with all the elderly
there.

lol! you'd have thought they would have it sussed.

friends death wasnt unexpected - he had liver cancer. It was very sad
circumstances though - he hermitted himself away from when he got the
news. Didnt want any visitors. Didnt have his heating on or put his
lights on (lived across the road) He was diagnosed just before christmas.
dunno when the funeral is going to be - his young son is going to let me
know so I can let his friends know. He died last friday so would have
thought we'd have heard by now.

well, my mom died on a Thursday & the doctor didn't sign the
death certificate until late the next Monday. then FL requires
a 48 hour wait between the signing of the death certificate &
cremation (so they're sure you're dead, i suppose). then my
dad found out (he'd already travelled back up here) that the
only way to ship the remains is through the post office, as
none of the shipping companies will take them because there's
no way to declare value. the postal system in the US is a bit,
um, erratic, so we're not sure if mom will be here for the
service tomorrow (2 weeks after she died).
hopefully your poor neighbors family doesn't have to deal
with such nonsense.
personally, i think the whole death/funeral industry in the
US needs an overhaul... it really preys on the bereaved & has
too much 'legal' clout as to what can & can't be done with the
dead.

It's not here, unfortunately.  We'd had some warmer days and the snow
was all gone, but the temps have still been somewhat cold and
everything is still all gray and dead-looking.  No green grass yet!

It's spring here as well, the crocusses flower, but I am somehow still
waiting for that last bout of winter to kick in. We usually have it in
February or March, and sometimes we even get some snow then. Which I
wouldn't even mind this winter, as we didn't have any over the last
months, only enough to make the ground look white till the sun comes up.

Definitely is here. Two weeks ago I was sat outside for my dinner,
wearing a t-shirt.

Although, as I appear to be working at Hogwarts, it could be some sort
of side effect from the magic :)

And for £25,000 ($50,000) you can send your kids there. They didn't
mention that in Harry Potter

True - sorry not been around.
Bad week this week neighbour (and friend) died friday. dh is away and
can't talk to him on phone cos of poxy time zones. ks fish are dying.
Spent today in emergency eye clinic - vision in operated eye has gone
blurry - probably is retinal edema. Got eye drops.

But... did get rescued by an angel. Eye appt took so long supportive
friend had to go home. Was going to get bus but try as I might I couldnt
read the timetable. I even climbed on to the seats. Had two old dears
helping me to no avail.

Then a little very old, very posh lady asked where I was going. Told me
to follow her. Had to cross several busy roads (half blind!) and ended
up in a church carpark. Turns out she lives near me and she gave me a
lift (several miles) to Ks school so I could be there to pick her up.

Sounds like a vary busy and depressing day/week. Angels, guardians whatever
you call them, can swoop in and make us feel like the world is a good place
and we get the chance to look at the world better. Take care of you and I
hope the eye is much better soon. BTW how is K doing with her equestrian
lessons?

thanks Cindi :)
Shes still enjoying them - had a big fall on Sunday though. Supposed to
be trotting and doing low jumps only her pony got over excited. It went
into an unbalanced canter, *leapt* over the fence, and then sort of
acclerated sideways. I closed my eyes. I didnt open them until I heard
the gasp from the others watcvhing and thought 'ok shes landed'.

Anyway she landed on her back/bum (body protector on), was winded and
shaken. But she didnt cry. Excited pony was given a good run by
experienced rider then dd got back on and had a little walk. Then got on
another pony and did some little jumps to finish the lesson.

She did have a bruised bum yesterday but that was it.

So how are you?
