So dh has been complaining about his chest hurting for a while... it
didn't sound like cardiac symptoms so I wasn't alarmed, but I kept
nagging him to get it checked out. Being the typical guy he just kept
going and going until he finally decided I was right and he stayed
home from work yesterday and we went to the ER.
I've been sick for a while, having caught the crazy virus that is
making the rounds this winter. Since my cough and deep congestion was
hanging around over 2 weeks later and I still wasn't feeling up to
snuff I decided to have my lungs looked at.
Chest x-rays for both of us reveal he's got 2 fractured ribs, most
likely from doing his job. He uses a pneumatic "bucker" at work and
it puts a slam against his chest.
My x-ray showed a spot of pneumonia in my lower left lung. So I got a
puffer to open my airways and an antibiotic. Dh got some pain meds
and instructions to stay off work the rest of the week.
Blech.

I am not laughing I swear. But this is dang near every set of parents I
know. Kids are taken care of. When they're sick they stay on the couch or in
bed and we bring them soup and Sprite or toast and tea. They don't worry
about anything but getting better. We, on the other hand, haven't the sense
to take care of anything until it's absolutely necessary.
I hope that you and hubby are on the mend very soon.

LOL, so true! I don't usually get sick but this winter has had some
very resistant virus making the rounds.
Thanks Cindi :-)

Right now Dh has a crushed toe and I have a sprained ankle. How did I
sprain my ankle? Well, I was playing street hockey with my son and a
couple of friends in order to make the teams even...in order to stop
the hissy fit from the "friend" that was on the brink of erupting.

You too! As soon as I hit sent, I realized that I forgot to extend my
symathies to you and your dh!
My husband's injury was a bit of self-inflicted pain so don't feel too
bad for him. :) He was snowmobiling with buddies and slipped on the
ice when getting off of his machine. At least he was doing something
for himself when he got injured. :)

Hope you both mend soon. Sounds like you were being a *good mom* and
got hurt. Did your son help you up and help you ice your injury?

Thanks. I'm up and about with no crutches but doing waaaaaay too much
too soon.
My son is wonderful. Unfortunately, the "friend" immediately blamed
my son for "taking out my teammate so he could win", "you tripped her
on purpose", "now who am I going to play with, you're a cheater"...
all this while I was on the ground trying to catch my breath through
the pain, I heard it all! I grit my teeth and sent the kid home before
my son popped him one, and he's not a violent kid! My poor son felt so
bad he thought he really did hurt me and was crying all night. Wrote
me a letter apologizing...broke my heart. He's a good boy. :)

Your son's friend is creepy. (With friends like that, who
needs enemies?)
Son sounds like a sweetheart.
Get well soon.

Well, at least you both have some answers and a remedy now. Make sure
he doesn't go back to work early. Is there any way to use the
*bucker* in a way that won't mess up his ribs?

Thanks Dorothy. He said he'll talk to his boss about being switched
to a different job, at least for a while. He seems to be the one who
can do his job the fastest and most efficient and he's afraid they'll
fall behind. Tough, I say ;-)
