Yeah, I really like Fall.  But, Spring trumps it just a tad bit
because I don't care for Winter very much at all and knowing it's on
the heels of Fall sort of takes the shine off, for me.

omg, I'm sorry! What kind of cancer, if you don't mind saying?
Radiation usually doesn't cause hair loss, though, except for the immediate
area that's being radiated , I think?  The only experience I have with
cancer, radiation, and chemo is my mom's breast cancer treatment, and she's
20 years cured this summer, thank the gods.

breast. early stage 2. not a big deal :) i'll certainly be
happier if we don't have to do the chemo (currently looks like
we won't, but won't know until they can check the lymph
nodes). from what my doc says, the radiation won't cause many
side effects... OTOH, i still won't glow in the dark. that's
disappointing ;)

That sounds hopeful!
Twenty years on, my mom's radiation (she had ductal carcinoma in situ, stage
1) side effects are sensitive skin over her chest area, shortness of breath
because the radiation affected her lungs, and of course the lovely tattoos.
She took Tamoxifen for five years, and that was no problem. She had some
lymph nodes removed on one side so one arm is weaker than the other, but
she's still able to muck out two stalls every day. She's a trooper ;-)
Her history means that I, at age 44, have had quite a few mammograms,
ultrasounds, and two biopsies.  There's always that fear, but breast cancer
diagnosis and treatment is so much better now than it was back then.
All the best to you Lee, please let me know how it goes.

best wishes. After seeing a friend go through the whole nine yards, I
would wait. It is amazing how much heat you can loose through your head
if it is bare, and the solutions to that problem are not always
comfortable when you have to wear them all day. I suppose it also
depends how used to having different looks you are. Ches wasn't, and
although not a vain person nor a blonde bimbo, was very badly affected
by the loss of her blond curly locks. Amazing how much we can have tied
up in parts of us we don't give a second thought to.

well, since my formerly very wavy hair fell out in huge
clumps after a car accident & grew back board straight, i'm
actually quite interested to see what happens.
i've had longish hair since i was 12, but it's just hair.
it'll grow back. it was rather odd looking over the 4 years it
took the clumps to grow back in after the accident, especially
the first year when i had short bits sticking up in odd
patches, but it all evened out eventually.
perhaps it'll get around to coming in white if it falls out
now.

Pardon the piggy back here.....

<<<<<<Lee>>>>>>

I hope things work out quickly and as hassle free as possible.  The hair
loss thing is not, as other say, a given.  I wouldn't cut it unless it began
to fall out in clumps, which is exactly what one of my folks in fl had
happen.  She was late to work that day because she spent time shaving the
rest off.   And it literally did fall out in clumps as she got up that
morning.

Please keep us up on how you do.

Damn, woman... I'd be freaked out.  I love your upbeat attitude, I

{{{{{hugs}}}}}

I'll be thinking of you!

Re the hair, I'd wait.  My mom had radiation only for a while and the
only side effect was her skin got a bit red in the area that was
targeted.  Once she needed to start chemo she did lose her hair, but
it was a pretty slow process.

heh. my GP finds it amusing i'm more annoyed about my thyroid
than the cancer. at least i can blame the thyroid for my
weighing 150 pounds ;)
the good thing is that they can do the radiation in
Manchester (45 minute drive) instead of my having to go up to
Lebanon every day (2 hour drive)... not that i'm that thrilled
with either considering gas prices :p
i'm happy i get the no insurance discount too, and that
medical expenses are tax deductable...

cats.  I am too lazy to care for dogs, plus my cats were always really
affectionate.  Can't have cats now though because of dil's allergies.

can't drink/eat anything artificially sweetened, doesn't
matter which fake sweetener it is. nasty! i accidentally got
a diet coffee soda. didn't even manage more than one drop
before it went down the sink. i really don't understand how
anyone can stomach that crap.

jeans. i (being very opinionated here) think going out in
public in sweats is slovenly. sweats are for working out, not
daily wear. icky!

Manual! Would never drive anything else - you have more control and really
feel like you're *driving* the car.

Jeans in the colder weather because I don't work out.

Station wagon (preferably with a stickshift)! I've driven one ever since my
first car, a '68 Torino wagon.
I hate SUVs and minivans, sedans are for old people and don't have enough
room for all my junk.

The fact that someone else said gravy makes me think you don't actually
mean what I think biscuits are.

But anyways - cornbread - but I've only come across it a couple of times

frozen yogurt, unless there is real icecream to choose.

icecream or pastries?

Love a pastry if it is made properly and not this 'here is some dough,
let's call it something' attitude.
