This is the fourth call that DW won't make the next 48 hours. She now
is off of the machines for almost 5 weeks..... For the last 2 weeks I
get a call every 3-4 days that DW is near death. So we go to say
goodbye.... Now I am asking myself if we should do the 80 mile drive
and say good bye for the 4th time or wait for the weekend....
Also ...
With all the things going on I did not check my hushmail account for 3
weeks and it expired. So if anyone sent me some e-mail let me know and
I get you a different addy.....

I would have to say that if you, and more importantly the kids, are at peace
with the farewell you have given already then there doesn't have to be a
rush to see her and say the same things over again. If you and the kids have
something else you have to say or you want/need to be there when she dies,
then make the trip.
Just my thoughts.

Things have changed again. Now hospice wants a meeting Monday. So we
will go and visit Monday.
Most frustrating thing is all those "false alarms". Point is she is
going to die question is when? Just found out today that her kidneys
shut down 10 days ago and were the reason for some of the calls.
Supposedly usually when the kidneys shut down its over soon. Also her
pulse is down to 25 for a week now. That was the reason for another
call....
Guess she is tough

It's really hard. It was a different situation with my Dad as he was very sharp
and aware but suffering from heart failure, but when he did die it had looked
like he may hold on for awhile, and only his wife, my brother, and a nephew were
there, as everyone else either had headed home or cancelled plans to travel
there. His beloved sister and her husband had driven from WI to Texas, and they
were on the way back, and turned right back south again at about the AK border
when they got the call ..
But I'm glad those who were there, *were* there (like, one representative from
each generation). But maybe it would help to forgive yourself in advance if you
can't be there right at that moment, since you have others dependant on you too.
My thoughts are with you,
Banty
