DH has just left to hop a plane to the US until (hopefully) Wednesday
night (getting him home Thursday morn).  His great-aunt died yesterday,
so it's back to the ol' stomping ground for him.  This blows.  We are
almost *never* apart...only one other time since P came along.  Urg.

Ever notice how all the creaks in the house are louder when you're
alone?  I never turn on the alarm at night, but I will be for a while!!

Oh yes, those creaks certainly are *much* more noticeable when one is alone!
My condolences on your husband's loss.  It is hard to be so far from family
during times like that.  I hope his trip finds some happiness in there as
well as bidding goodbye to his great aunt.  And I also hope you enjoy
yourself!  If you have my track record you will have just adjusted, at least
somewhat, when he gets back!

Going well, it's not the working day that's hard it is the tiredness caused
by all the preparations I have to do for the following day as dh is working
most evenings and tired the next day so I like to have his shirts done and
dinners prepared (it's not that he expects them to be done I just prefer to
keep things running smoothly!)
I need to invest in a little battery radio at work as I work with 1 girl and
4 guys, the room that I pump in is just behind the stock room which is in
constant use, I find it a) really hard to relax and b) awkward because I
don't like to think they can hear me..........the guys are so on edge about
it it's making things a little difficult but aside from that stuff
everything is fine.

I get that.  On his days off, can he and you make a couple dinners to
freeze?  Or get something from Tesco? :-)  Once in a while....

They're worried about walking in on you?  Poor guys, and poor you!  It's
sweet of them too tho.  I can imagine tho, I wouldn't be able to do much
in the same situation either.  A radio sounds like a great idea.

I work on his days off, he cooks those days and obviously the night before I
don't have to do any preps for the following day apart from getting bottles
ready.
I stopped off at Maccie D's on Sat evening for a takeaway, the kids thought
I was the best Mammy ever!

Well I do have lock, but they are conscience of having to use the stockroom
when I am just a flimsy door away from them and they look nervous when I
approach the fridge as that has to be kept in the stock room, there is no
plug in the other room.  You would swear I was going to make them drink the
stuff! lol!

I'm going to look in Dunnes or Boots for a cheap shower radio, that would do
the job (it needs to have batteries)

Hahahaha...those poor guys!!  At least you're showing how easy it is to
bf when you're working.

Or just go to the pound shop (euro shop?)...they always seem to have
something like that...

I'm sorry I didn't call this week.  By the time P is down and settled,
the dishes are done and the house is clean, Himself is calling, and then
I go crash in bed.  But he's home tomorrow morn!!  Whoo Hoo!!

What is it with that?  I mean, why can't we remember one darn thing like
that?  The worst part is if we got on the phone, we would be too tired
to talk intelligently.

> Just one more sleep til Himself is home.........I'm getting excited for u.

I can't wait.  Yep, he went over with his laptop bag (and a change of
clothes in it), got some clothes from the house there, and then went
*shopping*.  2 boxes, each over 40 pounds.  I think a lot of it is
chocolate chips :-).

Ooooo...wonder how bad the jumper he'll be wearing is? :-)  Hey...is
this why Dunphy is taking so much time off?  He can't beat the toy show?
Don't they repeat it the next day?

Heh heh, he tries to make them trendier than Gay's ever were but fails
miserable............I grew up with Gay Byrne and I still miss him, Pat's
not a scratch on him

Hey...is

But Pat's a trillion times better than that muppet.  He actually gets good
for brief periods when he gets stuck into an intellectual topic but this
lighthearted stuff doesn't suit him at all.

> Don't they repeat it the next day?

Yep, I now watch Pat on Friday until Jonathan Ross comes on BBC and Eamon on
Saturdays.................ooh what a social life I have.

He's a clotheshorse, isn't he?  In suits...but not those jumpers.  I
barely knew Gaybo, so I don't miss him.  But my critical tv producer eye
can't watch the Late Late, cause I would skewer Pat...he's a radio guy.
He doesn't have a face for radio, but he has the attitude.  He's not a
great tv interviewer.

I haven't been able to stay up late enough to watch Eamon, but Himself
did once.  He thought he was funny, but I don't think Eamon was trying
to be, if you know what I mean.

I'll have to catch both of them.  It'll be interesting.  I'll try to
stay up for the toy show, but I don't know...Himself will still be
slapped with jetlag (just got a call from the airport while he was
waiting for his boxes...any minute now!!!)

that sounds like fun...

> Are you celebrating TG today?

<burp>  Yep.  Dinner for 10.  16 pound turkey (brined), cornbread
pudding (that was hard...there isn't cream-style corn here and I needed
it...so I made it), cranberry orange relish, mashed tatoes, sweet potato
and marshmallow casserole, apple crisp and pumpkin pie.  What a shock,
we have leftovers :-).

We didn't have any more room at the table!  You'll get a separate
invite...for the Irish alt.moms Chrimbo do. :-)

> You have got to share the recipe for marshmallow casserole...........I'm

Quite simple, really.  It's 3 or 4 sweet potatoes/yams (interchangeable
in this recipe), peeled and sliced about the same thickness.  Put in
boiling water that has about 1/4c orange juice and a tablespoon or two
of brown sugar (dark is better).  Cook til tender.  Reserve about 1/2 cu
of cooking liquid, then drain.  Put in large bowl, and mash (or mash
right in pot).  Add one bigger (not the small size) can of crushed
pineapple (if you can't find crushed, get cubed, and use handblender on
'em for a sec) and the juice in it.  Mix til...mixed. :-)  Put in baking
dish.  Get mini marshmallows, cover the top of the baking dish with
them, not completely, since when they melt, they spread.  Then into
about 180 oven, and keep an eye on it.  When the marshmallows go a nice
golden brown, take them out when they've reached your personal level of
golden brown.  But don't walk away from the oven when they start going
brown.  Black happens quickly (as I learned on Thursday :-) ).

Kids eat this up.  I've had Himself's 3 aunts asking for this for
Christmas every year now :-).

OMG yes! I played single mum part time for over 6 months
when pregnant with Lydia and I was a nervous wreck, I hardly
ever slept, every creek would have me bolt upright heart
pumping. I don't know why I think having dh at home makes me
feel any more secure though, once he's asleep a bomb blast
wouldn't wake him up.
