This lady is facing a dreadful day. This is a big issue here, with a lot of
debate on her guilt/innocence. She's already been in jail for over 6 months.
A very scary prospect for her, because Malaysia has the death penalty for
drug trafficking.

Prayers for her that the true verdict is delivered.

Marc,
The link isn't working for me. Do you have another link with the story?

It's enough to make anyone stay home, Sue.
And it is a lenient sentence for that court. And if you can believe the
idiocy of some
http://www.sundaytelegraph.news.com.au/story/0,9353,15213859-28778,00.html
and that happened after Corby was put in jail and the court case has
started. Makes anyone wonder if the kids know what is going on in the world
or if they really only see dollar signs.
/sigh

Thanks Marc and Sue.

What a sad, sad story. What shocked me was their REASONING for not looking
into the baggage handlers claim. Just because it doesn't happen much? That's
not right. :(

The story has been on the national news here for the past 2 days. Absolutely
devastating outcome IMO. I just don't understand their reasoning. The one
article said they don't believe she was set up because that doesn't happen
often or something to that effect. That's just ridiculous!!! How on earth is
that solid grounds for ignoring her claims?? I feel so sad for her and her
family. :(

Apparently in Malaysian law, it is up to the defendant to prove their
innocence. So to prove she is innocent, she would have to produce the person
who owns up to putting it there. Difficult to say the least.

There is now a shrink wrapping operating at the nearest international
airport. But, in view of this case, you also need a certificate of weight
put on it, so the changes have to go a way further. Thus if the shrink wrap
is disturbed and the weight is different and nothing has been taken out that
was put in, you possibly may be able to prove it wasn't you.

Providing also that there are no nefarious baggage handlers that would
replace the shrink wrap and weight certificate.

Looking in the light of the impossible, one of these days air travel will
require a personal interview, with a review of your luggage contents. Only
require you to turn up to the airport two days before your flight, lol.

Yikes. That's very tough.

Sheeesh! That' crazy!

Right but what defines a nefarious baggage handler and who the heck is going
to believe anyone that makes that claim anyway. Seems like to them everyone
is guilty no matter what.
