We are at our local pool almost every day, the girls are in swim class w/
great teachers. All of the lifeguards have been wonderful. I would like to
give them a token of appreciation. However I'm not sure how many guards
there are and probably couldn't afford to buy them each a gift. I
considered taking them home made cookies, but they are all perfectly thin ..
I'm not sure that would be wanted.
Any ideas?
I'm not sure that this matters but the age range seems to be 17 - 21.

A nice letter detailing your experience to the agency they work for
(or their boss) with a copy to each of them might be appreciated.
You might add to each of the individual copies: "If you ever need
a job reference in the future, please feel free to list me."

You could bring a party tray of something other than desserts--
some sandwiches, fruit, whatever. They're likely hungry with all that
swimming.
Best wishes,
Ericka

Thanks, I'll figure something out ... maybe I'll do both.

Unfortunately, Kat, there aren't many people in this world as thoughtful as
you are. Lifeguards rarely EVER get recognized! I highly second Gloria's
suggestion but here are a few others:
1. A few $$ each to a local ice cream shop.
2. If they know the girls well, you could buy the plain wood picture frames
at Michael's or another craft store and let the girls paint them and put a
picture of the girls in it. Could you even go a step further and have the
girls pose for a picture with each of the guards and then put THAT picture
in the frame?
3. For the girls you could make a simple bracelet with stuff from Michael's
or a similar craft store or have C&Z make them.
If I come up with any other ideas, I will let you know!
You are such a kind person to think about doing something like this and rest
assured that ANYTHING you give them will really make their day! People don't
give lifeguards too much credit, IMHO and they do much more than meets the
eye! No, I'm not a lifeguard but I know TONS of people who are and my own
brother is one. :)
Good luck, Kat!
