think they start in 3rd grade.

DD loves football. So last year she started to play tackle. I posted about that
and she kept improving and improving towards the end of the season even was
co-captain for one game due to her efforts.

Also during the end of the season she started to think that one of the players -
the coaches son was "cute" and "dad I think I got a crush on him - I hope he
likes me". And judging from the way he followed her with his eyes I think this
was mutual.

During the school year for a while DD had some "new friends" and confided her
crush to them. Only problem was that those 3 girls - well were very demanding
and wanted all kinds of things from DD especially who to talk to or not etc etc
and starting to talk bad about others.

So one day in the cafeteria DD spoke up and was promptly threatened to be put on
the "slut list" to which she responded "I don't care what list you put me on".
So that was followed with the threat that those girls if DD does not comply
would tell everyone about her crush on that particular boy.

So DD loudly responded - "That is totally silly - I don't care - here I do it
myself" and loudly said "I have a crush on ...."  (After that she would not talk
to those girls anymore.

Unfortunatly said boy and half the football team where just walking by behind
her and well you can immagine. The guys immediatly started to bust said boy and
DD turned around and was face to face with that boy and he was all flushed red
and stated that he would not be caught dead with DD and furthermore that DD is
the worst football player that ever lived.

So DD was upset but stated. "I could have understood the first part - because
you unfortunatly got put on the spot and probably are embarrassed. But the worst
football player accusation in front of the whole team goes to far - even though
I like you. You know I can't back down on that if I want to play next season and
I definitly will play. So I want everyone to hear that I will try out for your
position - right corner back. So if you want to play your favorite position you
are going to have to beat me." And as signups were around the corner she signed
up for that position.

Said boy asked her later to reconsider. But DD sayd that it has to be and also
told him that he better not reconsider because either one backing down would be
considered as wimping out by the rest of the team and most likely earing a spot
on the second string.

So practice and trials start tomorrow. The last word of course is with the coach
of course. And he loves challenges and competition. DD says she still thinks he
is cute and basically forgave him for his remarks but the challenge is still on.
As she said - there is no wimping out allowed on the team. So she has been
preparing and working hard to get stronger and better - So that boy is going to
have his hands full.

Which raises the suspicion - Does DD have Klingon blood in her? <g>
