This hurricane is scary! Heck - we've been getting feeder bands all day -
mostly wind - but pretty heavy even this far away. This storm is ver
scary. My prayers are with all those who live in its path.

I was just watching the weather station .... Has there ever been a hurricane
this big?

Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat."we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're
mad.""How do you know I'm mad?". said Alice."You must be," said the Cat,"or
you wouldn't have come here.".

They have not left my thoughts since yesterday. Just got back from my
sisters this evening, it was very odd to be sat on a warm calm beach
this afternoon, knowing of the devestation that was happening in the US :(

They were showing a few local bay shots this morning on the news, and the
bay waters were pretty calm. The same thoughts are here - being so close,
yet for us, the storm is pretty much past. Actually, the weather it
brought us was a much appreciated break, with some gusty breezes and cooler
temperatures.
Its one thing for us - many people are saying they are glad it wasn't us.
But like all these storms, I hate to see them happen anywhere. Although,
it is Nature, and that is what makes this whole planet so spectacular.

ABC news just showed helicopter footage of New Orleans. It appears as if
nearly the whole city is submerged. You can only see the roofs of the
houses. If you didn't know any better, you'd think the streets were canals.
Hotels and high-rises had just about every single window blown out- the
curtains are blowing about outside of the buildings. Shopping malls and
stores just utterly demolished. They showed several rescues of people from
their rooftops.
For those in the US- they said there will be more coverage with additional
aerial footage at 10pm on ABC News.
I can't even imagine the pain these families must feel. Most in the are have
lost just about everything- not only in New Orleans but in Mississippi and
Alabama as well. Complete, utter devastation. The few pictures and clips
don't do it justice until you watch the aerial footage. Wow.
I don't know exactly where Dorothy's home is but the least we can do is keep
her and the rest of her family in our thoughts and prayers until we hear
from her.

We were watching the Weather Channel earlier and I was shocked :-(

I hope her home has sustained very little damage.
