Hello all,

I am de-lurking---again.  I posted for a bit a while ago but then I got way
too busy and needed to take a break.  Many of you probably don't remember me
so here is a mini-intro.  I live in Vermont with my DH of 13 years and my
kids, DS1 (11), DS2 (7) & DD(4).  We moved to VT from MI 6 years ago and
have been loving it.  I am currently a SAHM but have my degree in Early
Childhood Education which I am hoping to put to use again when my DD starts
kindergarten.

I am hoping to post more frequently so I will "see" you around!

Yeah, now there's TWO of us in Vermont!

Hi Melis!  I'm Aula, probably lived in Florida when you posted last, moved
'home' to Vermont a year ago.  Mom to DS10, married to wonderful
homeschooling hubby and work for the State.  Hope you can post more!

Well hello neighbor!  Now that you mention it, I think I remember someone
brining up the fact that one of the alt.moms was moving to Vermont - it must
have been you!  If you don't mind me asking, where in VT are you?  We are in
Burlington.  I hear snow may be on the way!!!

Yeah, I heard on last evening's news that y'all be getting 3-6 inches, iirc.
We, in the other end of the state, are expecting potential flooding.......

-Aula, off to explore keene to find out what kinds of craft stores they
might have there......

Welcome to am, Melis.

I'm Dorothy, grandmother to 3 year old dgd and 19 month old dgs.
I have taught preschool and high school in the Chicago area, but
we have moved because the son, dil and grandchildren moved.

Hi Dorothy,

Wow - preschool and high school, both ends of the spectrum :-)  When we
lived in MI, we would visit Chicago occasionally - we LOVE Chicago!!!  We
are hoping to get there this summer on our way to or from MI.  Some of our
favorites are the Shedd Aquarium and the Field Museum.  The last time when
we were there (about 7 years ago) there were staring to put together "Sue",
the most complete T-Rex ever found - at that time.

My MIL and FIL moved to VT shortly after we did.  DH is their only child and
our kids are the only grandkids.  Sounds like we have a lot in common!

And everything in between - did Girl Scouts with my dd all through
elementary, middle school and high school.

We were just back due to Hurricane Katrina.  Took my dgd to both Shedd
Aquarium and and Field Museum.  She loved both.  The newest Field
Museum exhibit is the Underground Bugs (My dd actually worked on that
when she lived in Chicago - she's a technical theater person and
briefly worked at the Field Museum just before she left the area).

We also took her to the Museum of Science and Industry and a smaller
Children's Museum in the suburbs.  And we visited Lamb's Farm and
Navy Pier with her as well.

I would really love to have stayed in the Chicago area, but my son's
job is down here and so we all returned to Louisiana in November.

If you visit and like theater, I highly recommend *Too Much Light
Makes the Baby Go Blind* (not for kids).  It's a uniquely Chicago
show - 30 plays (skits) in 60 minutes.  Fun and silly.  Some things
might be a bit too Chicago politics for you though.  They tend to
be pretty topical on local politics.  The Neofuturians are a very odd
bunch of actors and actresses.

The Underground Bugs sound really neat!  Are the beluga whales still at
Shedd?  They were my favorite!

My husband and I love to go to comedy clubs when we travel.  I think we went
to one called Zaneys(????) when we were in Chicago.
