Tonight we were fortunate enough to watch two good dvds :)

The first was Charlie and the Chocolate factory which we watched with K.
So different from the book and the original film dh and I still enjoyed
it. Johnny Depp was a very different, amusing and very unhinged Willy
Wonka. K however alternated between boredom and fear - odd as she doesnt
find the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe or Dr Who scary.

The second was War of the Worlds. All I can say is wow!! Im a huge fan
of the book and the radio play plus the original film. This was such a
cool, intense adaptation. I hardly breathed through much of it. The CGI
was amazing. At the end we were very grateful for tummy bugs as we
reckon thats what did them in :)

I *loved* this movie! We saw it in the theater and while I did find some
parts a bit 'creepy' (for lack of a better word), I thought it was
phenomenal overall. I think I liked it best BECAUSE it didn't try to match
the first version of the film. This way I wasn't trying to compare at all- I
was able to enjoy it as its very own version.

No comments here except to say that I am sorry I am missing what seems to be
a great movie but I refuse to validate one of the actors.
