I always stop to stroke cats when I can. On our street there is a little
black cat that I stroke on the way to get K from school. He always seems
pleased to see me :)
Yesterday I thought he was cute that when I walked away he wrapped his
paws around my calf as if to plead 'dont go yet!'
Today as I went to leave it wasnt a gentle hug I recieved, instead he
dug his claws deep into my calf, hissing!!! I tried to walk away
dragging him :-/ but he wasnt letting go so I disentangled him. Boy he
did *not* like that, he hissed at me, ran in front of my legs and tried
digging his claws into me again.
In the end I didnt know what to do so I sort of leapt over him and ran
for it! I couldnt believe it when I turned to look and saw that he was
chasing me down the road!!!!!!!
Tomorrow I'm taking a different route!

Lol, contact the owner maybe, he might just need a stern punishment?...or is
he a kitten that is just trying to play and you weren't palying enough for
his taste?

The owner is a another Mum who I see on the school run sometimes. She
has another cat too and I've complimented her on her lovely friendly
cats in the past!! She replied that the black one was a nightmare to
live with - always biting and scratching. At the time I was rather
suprised but I have looked after a cat before that panicked after being
stroked for a bit and fought back (she was quite easy to cure) and I
thought thats what she meant. Next time I see her I will let her know
her cat is becoming a bit of a thug!

Maybe he was trying to discourage you from going a particular way?
Animals sometimes sense things that we don't.

Could be - I hadnt thought of that. I have to say this morning I did
give him a wide berth. I might try a very short petting session this
afternoon and stop before he gets too into it.

I'm sorry
But I'm LMAO here
Attack of the cat!
Still would have been horrid but the visual of you leaping and running away
and him chasing you is just funny (if it hadn't happened to someone so nice
it would be hillarious rather than amusing).
Ok, I'm typing myself into the territory of meanness here so I'll stop...
