3 in 1 stroller/car seat/pram vs dedicated

in principle it sounds like a good idea, one chassis service multiple
uses.

but in practise, from your experiences, is one unit less capable,more
clumsy,expensive and heavier than 3 in 1?
or is it better?

what about the 2 in 1 stroller/car seat combo

Are you talking about something like this?
http://dreamtimebaby.com/shsitnstbytr.html  In my experience, they are
useful for travelling, but not for every day use.  For every day use, you'd
want a normal car seat, and a normal stroller.  For air travel, having them
combined is useful.  If you don't plan on traveling a lot, then I wouldn't
bother.
