I asked a little while back about what appeared to be a long luteal phase,
yet again, this month, ovulation seemed to occur early, day 10ish, but then
I had more ovulation signs on days 21-24ish, which would be much more normal
for me, DD was conceived with ovulation on day 23, but no, AF arrived on day
25, my cycle seems to be getting shorter each month, which is very
frustrating, I liked my longer cycles in my pre child bearing days! I've now
had more bleeds in 2007 than my entire marriage before that (August 2002), I
also had clear PMT this cycle, which is normal for me, but had been absent
until this time.

On other matters, I go for an MRI tomorrow to check for a particular hip
injury, a labral tear, if I have this, I still won't know when I did it,
whether it was in childbirth, or when I dislocated my hip a year later, I
suspect the former, but even if it was the latter, that would not have
occured but for the poor physical state the birth had left me in. It's
frustrating that this kind of thing was not checked for before, I repeatedly
asked to be evaluated as a trauma case, rather than a chronic case, but I
never was and in the UK there is little way around this and the one time the
GP did do a referral for this route, the consultant refused to see me,
saying it was beyond the scope of her clinic, which it may well have been,
but then passed me on to rheumatology, rather than orthopedics. It's taken
me time to get to this point here as though very soon after I arrived, a
physical therapist recommended I get my hip evaluated, the first doctor I
saw was very unhelpful and as my hip has not usually been the worst pain, I
delayed on getting another opinion. I'm hoping that this will be the problem
as it's fixable, alternative diagnoses are likely to be worse and there's a
possibility nothing will show up, which would be very demoralising as at
this stage, other things are a lot better and the hip whilst not massively
painful, is the limiting factor in a lot of exercises.

So, if it is this particular problem, that means surgery and I will have it,
nervous though I am, but it's possible that with various things going on, I
might not have it done until September and it's a 3mth recovery, which kind
of delays any plans to ttc, this is probably a good thing, I'm starting to
feel very broody now, but I know that 9mths from now would not be a good
idea, and as I really really don't want to be heavily pregnant in the summer
that pushes it to not even ttc for another year, but I'm mostly fine with
that, I've just got to work on mind over hormones, but at least there is
some vague agreement, a few months ago in my head, I wanted more, but really
thought it would be foolish, whereas now, I feel that if I work hard it may
well be possible without too much deterioration and by work hard, I mean be
fit, super fit and strong, to have my body in the best possible shape, but I
also mean work hard on my life, I really need to get the house well
organised, things are still fairly chaotic post move, plus having systems in
place for life management and that means training the kids to do some stuff,
which can be hard work, but will be worth it.

Cheers

If you start taking basal body temperatures in addition to observing
other fertility signs, you will be able to know by temperature rise or
lack of rise whether you are really ovulating.  If you really are
ovulating, it may help you to determine where the defects are in your
cycle to help determine how to fix it.

Light exposure and nutrition can make quite a difference in your
cycle.
A couple resources that might help you to improve your cycles are:

Effects of Light on the Menstrual Cycle, The: Also Infertility;
Clinical Observations
by Joy DeFelice, R., BSN, PHN

Fertility, Cycles & Nutrition
by Marilyn M. Shannon

If you haven't read TCYOF, I think you would find it enjoyable as well
as informative.  The book should be readily available at the library
in your area.

It may also just be that it will take your cycle more time to
stabilize.
