I got contacts yesterday and I took them out after 3 hours because my eyes
where tired and I forgot to buy eye drops. Today it took me about an hour
to get both contacts in so then I had to go to the store to get eye drops
since my eyes felt like sandpaper. My hubby bought some eye drops and I
read the instructions and the dumb things said to take your contacts out
first. So then we went to a pharmacy and 90% of the contacts said take
contacts out first. Finaly I went and got the pharmasist and told him of my
dilema and he was like 80 years old and I am not overly sure if he ever
heard of contacts... luckily I found the Bauch & Lomb eye drops... Now I
have had my contacts in for 4.5 hours and my eyes keep getting all blurry
well my left eye is getting blurry and I am trying to decide if contacts are
really worth it... Tell me it gets better PLEASE! Bonnie has ruined 2 out of
3 pairs of my glasses and I figuered the contacts would be easier to want to
use...I am gonna try to leave them in anouther 1.5 hours grrrrrrr!

Many women have difficulties with contacts during
pregnancy. I'm surprised your eye doctor didn't mention
that. Also, your fit can be very different while pregnant,
so the contacts you got yesterday may not fit after the
baby is born. Personally, I scrapped wearing contacts
while pregnant. My eyes always felt sandpapery then, even
though they're fine with contacts normally.
Best wishes,
Ericka

I've tried wearing contacts many times over the last 10 years but
unfortunately my eyes were just too sensitive to handle wearing them.
At times I'd force myself to wear them hoping that my eyes would get
used to them which unfortunately led to my eyes literally gluing shut
due to excess tearing and that sandpaper feeling you described. I don't
know that I'll be any help to you but I just hope you don't have to go
through this. With any luck your eyes might just need a little time to
adjust to them. Good luck.

*blush* I actualy ordered the contacts in October or Nov and I was worried
that they would not fit now that I am pregnant. After I ordered the
contacts orriginaly my hubby said we could not afford them so I had to put
off getting them until our income tax return came in. I actualy did not
mention that I was pregnant to the eye dr since I know the presciption is
right in general... He said the contacts look like they are fitting well.
I actualy made it all 6 hours today and they came out pretty easy. Tomorrow
I can wear them for 8 hours! I just hope that they will go in easier
tomorrow.

Hhmm, I've been wearing contacts for 17 yrs. I started having problems (dry
eyes) after baby #3. During pregnancy can't possibly be a good time to try
contacts. Your eye Dr didn't say anything about hormones and fluid
retention affecting your eyes?
A good eye drop is Allergan Refresh Contacts - Contact Lens Comfort Drops. I
happened to tell my eye Dr that was what I use and he says they're what he
recommends.
I definitely prefer contacts over glasses (much better vision, no glasses
physically in the way) but they are hard to get used to at first.

It usually does get better! When I first got contacts it felt awful, but
I got to the point where I could go for 12+ hours if needed and not even
notice. I'm back to using glasses most of the time due to dry eyes due to
allergies, but I still have "long wear disposable" contacts. These are
contacts that you wear for days or weeks at a time (take off at night) and
then throw away. Back when I started, you had to do enzyme treatments every
week or so and by the time you were due for your annual new pair of
contacts, the old ones were pretty bad. This way I get a fresh pair when
needed (J&J Accuvue are a common brand...I use Biomedics because they're
thinner).
Try different brands of drops and solution until you find a good match.
Good luck,

So you are new to contact lenses?
Well, then, it definitely gets better! I have been wearing them since I was
about 13. I am 27, to be 28 in August. It did take me a while to get used to
them, and also, sometimes, you will find that a different brand or type can
make a big difference. Keep in touch with your eye doctor if you continue to
have blurriness or comfort problems.
Also changing contact lens solutions can make a difference as far as
blurriness. I use Allergan Opti-Free multipurpose solution and allergan also
makes daily-use enzyme drops to drop into the case when you take them out
and clean them at night to keep protein from building up, which will cause
blurriness. I use the same brand of eyedrops, Allergan Opti-Free. I didn't
like Bausch and Lomb but your mileage may vary, it will depend on your eyes
and experience.
It does get better! Your eye dr should help you if you continue to have
problems, to see if maybe another brand or type of lenses might be better
for you.

I was hoping that when I get my permanent lenses it would be better... I
believe that these are just temp. trial ones. If I can get the hang of this
contacts thing then I think I am going to get a pair or two of the 30 day
extended wear ones for after the baby is born... It took me 45 minutes to
get the right eye in but it was some time figuring out which side was the
right way... it only took 15 minutes to get the left eye in;)
I think I may be getting better at it!

I had to stop wearing my contacts by about 8 weeks or so. My eyes
were dry, and my contacts would also blink out of focus like they were
the wrong prescription or curvature or something. It was kind of OK
during the day, but when they would blink out of focus on the highway
during rush hour, it was pretty scary. I'm wearing glasses full time
now, and I may be going tonight to order a pair of prescription
sunglasses so that I can see in bright sunlight again :P
That's probably not the news you wanted to hear, but I think it's
pretty common for women to have vision changes while pregnant. Good
luck!

When I first got my contacts at age 17 it took me about an 1 hour to get
them both in. It takes a little getting use to at first but i have been
wearing them now for nearly 14 years and I love them! They do tend to get
out of focus a little but for me its better than wearing glasses, Once you
get use to them, I think you would like them. I have never used eye drops
for my contacts but everyone is different.

I've been wearing contacts for 11 years. It does take a little while to get
the hang of it. My eyes though don't like to not have them in. I usually
leave them in for about 3 months and then take them out for one night. I get
headaches if I don't have them in so I try not to leave them out for long. I
told this once to an eyedoctor and she tried for an hour to find a reason
for me to take them out every night and she found nothing wrong. I use
Alcon's No Rub solution and every morning I use whatever contact eyedrops
are on sale just to refresh. I 'm 33 weeks and I still haven't had any
problems.

It only took me 15 minutes to get both in this morning! I was joking with
my hubby and said "I will see you in an hour" 15 minutes later I said oops
it was too quick this time;)
