Question about after birth & your period...

Just a quick question about after birth... About how long does it take to
get your period again after baby is born?  I can't remember from the last
time since it was a while back.

I know with DD, I bled for about a week or so.  Then it was completely gone
and nothing came back.  I'm wondering about how long it usually should take
to get your period.  I think mine came with DS#2 about 3-5 weeks after the
bleeding stopped.  I was BF DS#2 and I did get my period as normal, and I've
heard with BF there's a chance you might not get your period or you might.
I did for DS#2.  I am BF again with DD, and I'm just curious as to when I
might expect that monthly friend lol
I ask not because I miss it, because I don't think I really do, but DH and I
have been back in the sex game since about 2-3 weeks after DD was born and
we aren't using any type of contraception - but we're doing that pulling out
method, which isn't a form of birth control or anything, and I KNOW it's
possible to get pregnant before the standard 6 week checkup.

Well it really differs from one person to the next. I got mine when my
daughter was 13 months old. I am breastfeeding. My frienda who are also
breastfeeding got it when their kids were 3 months, 7 months, 8 months,
14 months and 24 months. So there is no fixed time I guess.

The problem with any natural contraceptive way is that until you
actually get your period, you wouldn't know when you'd be ovulating. So
you could get pregnant before getting that expected period.

I had heard (and now that I am menstruating again) that after giving
birth many women can feel ovulation. So maybe that would be a clue for you.

Good luck

Breastfeeding can actually be an effective form of
birth control IF:

1)  No bleeding after your lochia stops,
2)  Baby is less than 6 months old,
3)  Baby is nursing at the breast around the clock and is
receiving no solids or formula or other supplementation.

How long it takes to get your period back is variable, and
depends not only on your body, but also on how much/how
often you are breastfeeding.  In my case, it was about a
year for each child.

Best wishes,
Ericka

It is very individual.  I was breastfeeding both of mine and my periods
returned at 10mos and 8mos.

I breastfed all 5 and they had bottles too, with my 1st periods resumed 6
weeks after the birth.. but the following 4 I didn't get a period until
completely stopping the boob. I had unprotected sex and never got pregnant
until breastfeeding had finished.

Andrea mom of 5 due a Girl soon soon!
