Yet parents are EXHORTED, under pain of reporting to CPS, to use alternative
aversives.

Gee, guess the disciplinarian inflicted *corporal punishment* for having unruly
kids write sentences.

Absurd.

Fern,

So what's this post all about?  Who is EXHORTING parents, under the pain
of reporting to CPS, to use alternative aversives?

And why would anyone with a functioning brain believe that forcing
"unruly kids" to "write sentences" is logical or rational?

People with functioning brains might ask: "What exactly is unruly?" "Why
are these kids acting unruly?"  "What can I do to help them exhibit
more appropriate and productive behavior?"

People with functioning brains may make the next gigantic leap to "Why
would forcing unruly kids to write sentences have any effect on unruly
behavior?" or "Given the fact that children who read and write fluently
have better prospects as adults, why would I turn writing into a
punishment?"

Good questions, don't you think?
