That's amazing: it may as well have been specifically written about my
daughter! Many is the time I've been left standing there in
astonishment, unable to understand why she has just done or said
something when it's either been obviously not in her own best emotional
interests and thus implies she's incredibly stupid - which she certainly
isn't - or it's been so callous and heartless that it's unimagineable to
think that it came from someone who is transparently so beautiful in
thought and want as she is.

Alas the article doesn't offer any help. Would stopping, swallowing
offence and pointing out her lack of medial prefrontal cortex thinking
(what a fantastic phrase to launch across the dinner table tonight!!)
actually do any good - would it teach her? - or do we just have to wait
for it to develop under its own steam?

I suspect the latter...
