Oh my goodness, I know I am missing alot of people but I miss you all and
even though I have not been able to be online for a few years, you have all
been in my thoughts and in my heart :)

I am a Step-Mum of 4, Mum of 1, and Nana Raising 1 .  hehehehe we still have
a very eclectic family, and DH is still my rock ;) we renewed our vows on
our 13th anniversary this last April.  It was a wonderful and special
ceremony that included the kidlets currently living in our house.

I could ramble on for hours with updates, but I'll leave this post short for
nowand wait for the replies on how everyone else is doing ;)

Lots of us are still here.  I have no update - things are as they
were.  My older daughter is a junior in college and the younger one
graduates from HS in June, so we'll be empty-nesters!

What's going on?

How is your site and business going? Empty nester??? OMG, I can't imagine my
house *ever* being empty lol.

Eldest SD33 is.... hmmm pretty much the same.  She is SGD's Mom, and has
been making the best choices for her daughter(SGD11) that she can.  I don't
agree with her *life* choices, but I respect her decisions with regards to
SGD and putting her needs first... Even if those needs mean that we are
raising SGD instead of SD.

SS31 is doing really good lately, he is *finally* growing into a responsible
man, and we are very proud of his responsible choices.

SD25 is going to college now, to be a medical lab analyst. She has been
carrying between a 3.8-4.0 so far :) *Does proud Mama dance* There is some
fall out from her abusive now *EX* boyfriend, but should be over when the
court date gives her vindication.

SD23 Has 2 babies now, is married, and has moved back in with her BM. She
pays dearly for any contact she makes to us, so we don't hear from them very
often, but the *rumours* are that she is struggling :(.

DD12 is still homeschooling here, and doing fabulously, although I am not
quite sure I *like* my baby wearing my clothes and shoes and being my
size... lol

SGD11 is doing *very* well, for the last year she has been in therapy for
her attachment disorder, but making progress this year by leaps and bounds
:).  Her grades have put her in honour roll all year (with the exception of
the control issues when we have to go through and *turn in* her completed
work). Her weight has become a bit of concern, and I may be asking advice
regarding this and the control issues that have to do with AD and
food...hehehe

SGS9 (of SD33) is still with his Dad about 700 miles away from us, and we
have rare contact with him through e-mail...

Me & DH, hehehe well what can I say he is my rock, my sunshine, my best
friend, and if it weren't for his support having all of the difficulties
that we have had with the SK's in the past I think I would have given up lol

All in all, I am happy with my life and family ;)

Lady Heart

HI, Victoria!

it just feels like ages ago that we all used to post here!  so much has
changed! I'm basically a lurker now...
here comes a L-O-N-G update:

BD21 married a wonderful man 2 years ago and still live in the same town.
She is working at the Navy base here as an intern, and graduates with a
degree in engineering in a few months.  We are still as close as ever, and
love spending time together as a family!  her DH is wonderful!

SS20 moved out a few days after he turned 18.  he's lived with his BM since
then.  Nobody likes the gf (except SS of course) but BM is insistant SS will
"hang himself, given enough rope."  We see him on special occassions, and he
works with my DH at the family business, so DH sees him just about daily.
Relationship with him strained.  I know he will come around one day, but we
just stay as prayed up as possible to not react to him!

SD17 has made a complete turn around!  She's the reason I used to post here
so much.  She's now sweet and loveable, and we owe that all to her
committing her life to Jesus.  We saw such an immediate and true change in
her.  She has even started getting A's on her report card!  She had her
first boyfriend this year, and handled it so well!  I'm really proud of her
and can't tell you enough how much she has changed.  Our home is finally a
place of peace!

DH - He's been amazing.  Just amazing.  We really healed from all that
fighting in the early days, and are really enjoying each other.  We have
started taking trips together, and are making beautiful memories!  A
disagreement that used to result in 3 days of silence after much loud
arguing is now resolved within an hour or two at most.  I think the real
difference is that we both know we love each other and we're not going to
give up. We're more willing to compromise because our other needs are being
met.

We've been re-decorating the house, a room at a time...We're working on the
living room now, and only have the dining room left to do.  it's been fun
since our taste is so different, but amazingly, we're finding furniture that
fits both our tastes.  Have you ever seen that show called "Designing for
the sexes"?  that's what they do on that show; take the differing tastes of
husband and wife and make it work into a design they both love.

Work is great, I'm doing a lot more weddings.  Health - getting better.  I
had sinus surgery AND a hysterectomy this past year.  it's no joke that the
healing time is quite long!

Great to hear from you!  I usually stop into ASSP about once a month or so,
but don't really post anymore.  So, what's the LONG version of your
update???

Wow...I changed ISPs and was just playing around with newsgroups and here
this was.

Hello, Victoria!!!

I haven't been really active here in ages...no idea how long.  Things have
changed tremendously for me, I guess.

Rob and I split several years ago, of course.  SS is going to be 15 in
March, which is still shocking.  I'm never prepared for how huge his feet
are getting or how deep his voice is getting.  We were at a drive-in
restaurant a few months back and I passed his food into the back seat, to
hear this man thanking me!  I guess to me there'll always be a six-year-old
in the back.

BM was hit by a car and killed a year ago last Christmas.  Rob waited until
school was out for the summer to take custody, moved SS into his parents'
basement with him until September, and then moved him back to SF's
"temporarily"...until Rob could get an apartment (which he'd already had
nine months to prepare for).  SS's still with SF six months later, and Rob's
still in his parents' basement.  Big surprise.  I'm in my very own, very
nice new apartment - literally across the street from my office and
overlooking the park.  I see SS a few times a year, Rob slightly more than
that, and am stupidly happy.

I'm still making costumes, although my site hasn't been updated in some
time.  One of my New Year's resolutions was that I would catch up on
photographing them (I keep framed 10" x 13" portraits of them all on the
wall above my sewing table).  This past year Rob and I went as Jack and
Sally, from Nightmare Before Christmas, and I sent a Matrix costume over for
SS.

Still single (see "stupidly happy", above) and facing down my 35th birthday
at the end of the year.

And I take my road test next week, for my very first driver's licence!  :)

I turn 34 in two weeks, and it's hanging over me like mad.  I'm trying to
come to terms with turning 34 *and* buying a minivan.  I would probably feel
better if I was 34 and buying, say, a Porsche.

> And I take my road test next week, for my very first driver's licence!  :)

You should get a Porsche! or a Mini Cooper.  Fun, fun!  Good luck with your
test.  I bombed parallel parking and backing around a corner.  I still go
out of my way to avoid doing either of those maneuvers.

It's good to hear how you're doing, lil.

Hi I'm new to this group, but I couldn't help but check out your pics Shay
and wanted to ask if you are from the New Orleans area? We have a House of
Broel here and I almost had my wedding there, too. Just curious. Sorry to
have intruded on the conversation going here lol.....

No, I live in Washington state, but we did get married in New Orleans at the
House of Broel.  It was a beautiful place to get married, and I have to say,
every day, I long to be back in New Orleans.  We only spent two nights there
before departing on a cruise, and it was not enough time to "do" the city.
My MIL lives in Baton Rouge, so maybe we'll get back that way again
sometime.

Oh that's neat! My husband is from Baton Rouge, so is his family. I had seen
their website (House of Broel) and was very close to getting married there
back in 2003, we decided to have an at home wedding with all of the children
involved..it was very nice and yes New Orleans is fantastic. I do hope you
are able to come back oneday and see all there is to see.

<grin>

I didn't have any problem with 34.  That being said, I've pretty much been
in denial about my birthdays since turning 30.  I spent all of my 30th
birthday locked in my mother's bathroom in tears.  I don't lie about my
age...I'm the first to tell everybody how old I really am, because I don't
look it and don't feel it, so it's funny to see their faces.  But it's one
of those things I don't ever think about  - like the color of the sky or
whatever happened to Pee-Wee Herman after that whole movie theatre incident.

> You should get a Porsche! or a Mini Cooper.  Fun, fun!

LOL!

Actually, when I *do* get a first car, it'll be an older Toyota Celica.  I
like them, and I like Toyotas.  They have a completely impractical back
seat, but I'm nobody's mother.  :)

Even a cheap car, with a loan through my employers, would cost me a minimum
of $100/month.  Insurance for a new driver is $2400/year...so another
$200/month.  Parking is my building is $30/month.  Three-hundred and thirty
dollars for a luxury I haven't needed in 34 years is kind of hard to
imagine...especially when my mother lives 12 blocks away and never uses her
car.  So the new car will have to wait for a new job or a new salary!

>Good luck with your
> test.  I bombed parallel parking and backing around a corner.  I still go

Thanks!

I passed the test.  Not with flying colors or anything (you should *see* the
regulations BC has in place these days), but enough to get my "N".

See, as a learner, I have to drive around with an "L" on my car for a year -
nine months if I take driving lessons.  Then I'm allowed to take my first
road test.

This road test gets me my novice licence, and means I have to drive around
with an "N" on my car for *two* years.  In that time - get this - I am not
allowed *any* alcohol in my system (anything above a 0.0 automatically
suspends my licence) and I'm only allowed one other person in the car,
except immediate family, unless one is a licenced driver over the age of 25.
'Cause apparently a lot of 34 year old women fill their car with buddies go
street racing.

So for the next two years, I still can't chaperone the girls' group I work
with because I can't drive them around.

Then I take another road test.  If I pass that, I get a driver's licence.
I'm not at all certain my blood pressure can handle it!

> It's good to hear how you're doing, lil.

You too, Shay.  I think of you every time I'm driving through your area.
And I'll be doing it a lot more often now that I don't have to depend on
someone else to do the driving...my first road trip is to Eugene, OR next
weekend!

Although I'm seriously considering the Duran Duran concert in Seattle....
:)

Personally, I'd like to see re-testing every 5 years.  People seem to pass
and then forget everything they ever learned.  Not getting at you, lil, but
I've had two separate incidents of people reversing their vehicles into mine
since Decmeber.

Victoria,
It's so good to hear from you! I'm happy to hear that you are doing so well.
Nothing too exciting here; most of my SP issues have gone by the wayside.
BM moved closer to us--about a mile away; I thought that would make things
worse, but it has been so much better.  The girls are now 14(BD), 12 (SD)
and 4 (BD).
Wayne and I finally got married in November. You can view pics at:

Life is good.
Are you going to be popping in here more often?
