Help!
Can someone more computer savvy than I am tell me how to set up a filter
in Netscape to exclude cross-posted messages? I think the cross-posting
on our most prominent thread is getting out of hand... not only
alt.support.marriage, but now also alt.child-support.
Thanks,
Lee

I couldn't tell what you're using for a newsreader, and each newsreader
has it's own way of filtering.. if it's possible at all.  Try doing a
google search using the keyword of your newsreader and filters, perhaps
that might help?

Eek.. yeah, I'm sorry.. as soon as I hit send, I saw that you did say what
your newsreader was, sorry.

Doesn't Netscape have a help file?

Yes, it does, but I haven't been able to find anything that addresses
that specific situation. I'll spend some more time browsing, although it
may turn out that I just can't filter in that way.
Thanks, Lee

The only thing I can find is this.. from 2003, from google's archives:

Hope you find that helpful.

I agree.  The barrage of bitterness that's coming into Assp is getting
my down.  I've KF'd a bunch of people in the past few days.  Filters
depend on your newsreader though.

Me, too. It's unfortunate that there's so little other activity in the
group.

I guess I'll either have to KF or mark the thread to be ignored.

Let's come up with something else to talk about and maybe these people
from other groups will go back where they came from. Their posts are
increasingly OT.

Why do you care if the message you read is posted in any other group?

Many people on usenet frown on cross posting.  It annoys me because a
thread can become OT very quickly.

Because frequently the groups that are crossposted do not have any common
interests and often conflicting philosophies, and very often cross-posting
is done in order to be deliberately inflammatory.

All of the above can be said of a NON-crossposted message.

While it can be true of non-crossposted messages, it is a lot more likely to
be true of crossposts.
