Since taking office republican California governor has much cleanup to do!!
People with positions that must be terminated, taxes to cut, rich buracrate
pigs to squash, and Indian casino's to be taxed!!!

California has gotten itself into a big mess under the leaderhip of governor
Gray Davis.

Statement by Governor Schwarzenegger on Passage of the Re-Negotiated Indian
Gaming Compacts

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today released the following statement upon
the Legislature's approval of Indian gaming compacts he renegotiated with
five tribes -- the Pala Band of Mission Indians, the Pauma Band of Luiseño
Indians, the Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians, the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay
Indians and the United Auburn Indian Community:

"Today's passage of these new agreements with some Indian tribes is another
victory for California. I want to thank the legislators for their approval
and thank again the tribes for stepping forward and agreeing to help our
shared California community.

"These re-negotiated agreements represent a tremendous accomplishment for
the people of California. The compacts provide a fair contribution of gaming
revenue to the state and guarantee important protections, while respecting
the tribes' sovereignty.

"These compacts are about more than revenue to the state. The agreements
help local governments meet their law enforcement, fire protection and
infrastructure needs. They strengthen our environmental protections. They
provide more rights and safeguards for workers and guests. And they bring in
at least $1 billion in new state revenue this year, which I will dedicate to
desperately needed transportation projects. In addition, these agreements
can generate up to another $150-$200 million a year in ongoing state
revenue, which is good for California.

"This is a fair deal for the tribes and the state. I am hopeful more tribes
will join us in these agreements, which would provide even more revenue to
the state.

"Finally, these agreements solidify a partnership based on the tribes'
exclusive gaming rights. I will protect this partnership, and the will of
the people, by working to defeat the gaming initiatives set for the November
ballot - the initiative to place slot machines in urban card rooms and race
tracks and the Agua Caliente initiative, which would allow unlimited Indian
gaming expansion with no state control. I urge voters to join me and
preserve the exclusive rights they voted to give the tribes back in 2000."

Funny how indian gaming taxation, a demcratic cause, finally wins
under a republican confronted with his own desperate budget crisis.

Slanderous nonsense, there is nothing you can point to that Davis
did any differently than "Ahh-noldt"or after he was faced with it.
The allegations that Davis was doing anything anybody else wouldn't
do in the same position were merely blatant falsehoods by the ever
more desperate Orange county rich who hadn't been able to do squat
since Pete Wilson and who would say ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING using as
much money as was needed to shout down anyone else.

In other words, exactly what the Democrats wanted to do and were
opposed by, you guessed it, the southern California Orange County
republican rich who are heavily invested in associated businesses
to gaming sites. They wanted to make sure to do a half-assed job
of limiting their investments in law, so they all hand-crafted
their own tax loopholes!
