Yesterday, my daughter called at 6 a.m. to say that the boys had gotten hold of
their Dimetap bottle and shared it. Called Poison Control, they said since
there was no way of knowing who drank how much -- worst case scenario would be
followed, that one of the boys drank it all. They were 'just beyond' the
amount for monitoring at home, so they spent four hours on heart monitors,
blood pressure, etc. They were really good (drugged?), and no stomach pumping,
so that was a relief. The nurses and docs were fabulous, kind and not mean
about leaving the medicine within reach -- seems that a lot of them have done
it ONCE, also. What a good lesson, with no side effects, other than the boys
said they don't want to go back to the HOBSPITAL again. The other good news:
they shared, they didn't lie, they said they won't touch medicine again,
because they had belly aches. The nurses said the good news/bad news is that
dimetap just tastes so delicious to them! Oh -- they were able to remove the
childproof cap, at the age of three.

First off, so glad they are okay! I'm sure the situation was very worrisome.
Dimetap? One word...YUMMY! I loved that stuff as a kid and my kids ask for
the "purple stuff" all the time. No wonder they had the whole bottle between
them ;)
Childproof cap? Whatever. I'm convinced they are adultproof and kids are
smarter than us these days LOL!

I second that. My girls are only 21-months and they have a childproof cap
off in about 10 seconds!
