we currently have a 3 door VW polo, we weren't really planning to change it,
but a problem we should have forseen has cropped up, Ada has grown out of
her rear facing baby car seat, however, she is only 7 months old, I dare not
face her forwards hence we need a convertible car seat. Now it is completely
impossible for me to put her in a rear facing convertible car seat, so we
conclude purchasing a 5 door car would be sensible. I expect we are looking
at something in the 5-10 years old range, also getting an automatic would be
desirable. Finally, we actually find putting a toddler in a 3 door car
easier than any of the 5 door cars we have used his seat in (though fitting
the seat is easier, but you only do that occasionally), so we have to
consider ease of putting toddlers into a forward facing car seat as well.
I'm clueless, anyone have any ideas?
Cheers

You don't say how much you want to spend.
Also if you go to somewhere ask to try fitting seats etc before you buy.
If they won't let you, go somewhere who will.
Ford are much better now than they used to be and depreciate like crazy so
second hand are a good buy. German cars are less reliable now than they
were and hold value so are probably less of a good buy.
However it's always your call. I have a Mondeo nearly 3 yrs old, wife has
5 door polo, R reg and we have a 3 yr and a 25 week. The bigger seat is a
0+ to 3 so will start small and last a long time. Stays in car.

Have a look at -

It is great help in comparing cars but I don't know if it will address your
problem.

We've got a citroen picasso. I love it as the seats are quite high up so you
don't have to bend over when putting the children into their seats. You can
get loads in the boot and the higher driving position is good.
Our was about £6000, 3 years old and ex-motability with only 12,000 miles on
the clock.
They're not the most stylish and there are probably loads more that are
'better' cars, but the price was right!

Ask at www.honestjohn.co.uk, or one of the car/transport
related groups - these will have more readers than here,
so your chance of getting an answer increases. You might
even get a sensible one.
