Hi,
My wife did a pregancy test today using a "First Response" kit where a
pink line appears once the test is working followed - hopefully - but
a second pink line if the test is positive. The problem is that an
extremely faint second line has appeared and we are unsure if it is
positive. The line is very faint but definitely there although half
close your eyes and you can't see it! I understood that if there
absolutely no pregnancy then there is no chance of a false positive,
so we are wondering if the hormones are not plentiful enough to give a
bright line.
Any thoughts would be welcome!
Thanks,
Gareth, Kent.

Suggest she waits a few days, then does 2nd test with first morning urine
sample - hormone levels will be higher then, if it's positive
Good luck!!

Any line is a line.
Your line is definitely a positive.

Thought a pale line can (from experience) indicate a 'fading' pregnancy, if
you get my meaning :o(

First reponse sometimes gives these very faint early lines.

I used First Response, and it showed up a very dark, clear pink second line.
There was no mistaking if the line was there or not. Even to this day,
although I took the test 7 months ago and came back with positive, the line
is still there and as it was that first day I took the test.

With home testing kits, such as First Response, or any other ones, there's
always the chance of being pregnant and not showing a line, or not being
pregnant and showing a line. Have your wife wait a couple days and do a
second test. If the second line shows up again, then call your
doc/midwife/ob-gyn!
I used First Response as well, and both the pink lines showed up clear and
definitely there. There is always the chance of a wrong reading, but good
luck and definitely do a second test in a couple days again. Hopefully that
small, faint line is a definite line, since the second line is still a line,
no matter how strong or faint it might be.

Thanks for all your replies. Not sure what gave rise to that faint
line but a second test has since come back negative and the dreaded
period has started so no luck this month!
Thanks again for your replies.

Would agree that Clearblue has always been most reliable for me.
Definitely take again in a couple of days. Good luck!

obvious reasons I still had not come on so did the pregnancy test today and
it was postivice and yeppers im gonna be mum again....so do wait and do the
test again. It would be interesting to find out how far I am. Hopefully 3rd
