Query: Normal for breast pump to hurt in late pregnancy?28 Feb 2005 21:40 GMT4
Just curious if others have found this so... I'm almost 39 weeks and got my
pump today, tried it out and *YOW* that smarts. Had it on the lowest
setting, too. It's a White River, supposed to be "extra comfortable"...but
ye gods.... So I'm wondering if it's just because I'm ...
those "cereal must happen during the 6th month" studies28 Feb 2005 19:14 GMT11
so a friend left a (really bad, really anoying) parenting mag at my
house, and i read it anyway.  dumb, eh?  anyway, they mentioned that
babies who first have cereal before 4 months OR AFTER 7 MONTHS have a
fourfold increase (!) in type 1 diabetes.
BF and Intimacy28 Feb 2005 18:16 GMT10
DD is almost 3 months now, strictly BF.  I have returned to work PT.  I
feel absolutely no desire for intimacy.  Is this hormonal?  My mother
claims it may be due to the BF.  Your thoughts?
declining milk production?  help28 Feb 2005 12:59 GMT12
For months I've been able to pump between six and twelve ounces in the
mornings, even after DS has eaten.  Now lately I'm lucky if I can get
more than an ounce, and I'm really worried that my milk supply is
permanently diminishing.  I have a stash of frozen milk in the freezer,
Lorelei gained . . .28 Feb 2005 08:22 GMT12
. . . 1.5 ounces in four days!
Okay, that's not great; it's just shy of the .5 ounce per day that the
NP said is minimally acceptable, but it's a lot better than nothing in
a month!
cttd:  big kids and pumping28 Feb 2005 07:08 GMT15
My big boys, 10 and 11, are fascinated with this pump.  They come over
and just stare while I am using it.  Jake, especially, is really
interested in how things work, so he's analyzing it:  "Oh, I see!
That's a suction cup so it is creating a vaccuum to pull out the milk!"
VERY CONCERNED!!!  ROCKET FUEL CHEMICAL IN EVERYONE'S BREASTMILK27 Feb 2005 11:04 GMT7
Hasn't anyone else read the article about the rocket fuel chemical
called perchlorate found in breastmilk???  Researchers studied woman
across the United States and found high levels of this chemical in all
the women's breastmilk.  Levels of perchlorate were higher in
thrush, mastitis and pumping breast milk27 Feb 2005 04:22 GMT1
My baby is only 6 weeks old. Three weeks ago, she was found out to have
thrush. We went to the doctor's office and she gave us Nystatin, which
seems doesn't work very well. The following week, I was found out to
have mastitis and was on antibiotic that the doctor priscribed. Because
newborn gulping air?26 Feb 2005 21:31 GMT8
Hi guys, I had #2 two weeks ago!  I need some advice -- he had a tongue tie
which loosened enough for breastfeeding in the first 24 hours, but wasn't
great so I had a couple of notches cut in it three days ago which improved
his seal.  But, he is still gulping air and needing to ...
Question about breastfeeding and C-sections26 Feb 2005 20:24 GMT13
There is a reasonable possibility that I am going to have to have a
C-section with this pregnancy.  My baby is breech, but we are going to try
an external version tomorrow (I'll be 37 weeks) to see if she can be turned,
which hopefully will work. However, in the event that it ...
mastitis?26 Feb 2005 17:50 GMT4
I think I may have mastitis--painful left breast that has red patches and I
have had a low grade fever since last night.  I cannot get the OB office on
the phone, as they have closed for the weekend.  Do I need to go to a
doc-in-a-box for treatment or is it safe to wait until the OB ...
Blue milk...25 Feb 2005 21:45 GMT11
Now, if this had happened when my monkey was still being fed through a tube,
I'd be freaking out, but as I'm only pumping to relieve engorgement at work,
I'm not so worried.
When I pump, my milk is coming out blue. Think gorgeous sunny afternoon
Ow ow ow25 Feb 2005 14:14 GMT8
DD4 has been a nursing champ, not including the weight gain issues.  We've
been through many a course of antibiotics without thrush, or with easily
treated thrush.  All of the sudden at 8 months, nursing hurts!  Like clench
your teeth, first week of nursing a newborn hurts.  I ...

1 ounce :-(25 Feb 2005 04:49 GMT16
That's how much milk Lorelei appears to have taken in one 20 minute
nursing session at the LC's this afternoon.
Also, when she weighed her before the feed, she weighed the same as at
the ped's on Wednesday so we've made no progress yet. :-(
