| IgG deficiency and breastmilk? | 16 Mar 2005 02:14 GMT | 2 |
One of my friends has a 14 month old daughter who was just diagnosed with an IgG deficency. She was born prematurely due to HELLP, and the mother's physical condition was such that breastfeeding really wasn't an option initially, so the baby wasn't breast fed. The poor little girl ...

| Solids and effect on supply | 15 Mar 2005 14:01 GMT | 4 |
Question: I've read many MKBers posts indicating that adding even one bottle of formula a day can start mom and baby down a slippery slope that will result in a fast diminishing, and eventually disappearing, milk supply. This makes sense to me. What doesn't is how one can add

| Is this a blocked duct? | 15 Mar 2005 13:55 GMT | 3 |
I have got a very painful right breast - the pain feels like it is very engorged but only of the top of the breast (but its not engorged) and feeding is very uncomfortable too. I have been fortunate never to be in pain when feeding before so I am stumped. I don't think it is

| Medela Lactina Plus -- can I service myself? | 15 Mar 2005 09:07 GMT | 3 |
We bought a used Lactina Plus from eBay about a month ago. Works fine but it's starting to squeak a little. I suspect one of the plastic gears is getting worn at the axle. I put a little lubricant at the contact point and it seems to make it quieter, but there's a side

I don't post much anymore, but I read now and then and know that there are still some folks around who still remember me. DS at 3 yrs 4 months is still BF as often as he can. It took 27 months for AF to come back and I've been ttc ever since. Well as much as one

| Yellow breastmilk? | 14 Mar 2005 22:59 GMT | 3 |
I ended up unfreezing some of my stash, because DH accidentally left about 24 oz of pumped milk on the kitchen counter all night long, and I've noticed that it's a lot yellower than my current milk. Since Alli was only just past her due date at the time I pumped it, I assume it ...

| Sore nipple | 14 Mar 2005 22:23 GMT | 17 |
Hi everyone I'm Pip (30) and had my second child 5 weeks ago and she was born at 32 weeks gestation. For the first week DD was tube fed on EBM and the 2nd and 3rd week I was BF half of her feeds and the other 1/2 were tube feeds. We have now been home 2 weeks and suddenly I have a ...

| No Gain | 14 Mar 2005 21:13 GMT | 11 |
Went to the LC today, and Lorelei still weighs 12-10, despite pumping 4-5 times a day (I know that's not much but it's all I can manage) and feeding the expressed milk, and taking domperidone, fenugreek, etc. We are going to continue what we are doing until the ped visit

| New to group and question about pumping | 14 Mar 2005 19:32 GMT | 2 |
I am currently breastfeeding a 13 day old daughter (my first). She was born at 38 4/7 wks gestation by C-section, but was a little small at birth - 5 lb. 12.6 oz., down to 5 lb. 3.8 oz. at hospital discharge. Those first couple of days of breastfeeding were a little rocky, but ...

| Sling ? | 14 Mar 2005 05:56 GMT | 17 |
What sling would you recommend for doing things around the house? All I have ever had is the OTSBH, and I'm wondering if I should try something different since apparently Lorelei is never going to let me put her down. Is there another one that is better for being active in?

Just occured to me...are you doing any sort of baby massage? Doing massage can help growth without increasing food intake, simply by increasing the efficiency with which the body uses what it gets. Plus, babies like it. Jenrose

| Clingy at 4 Months | 13 Mar 2005 21:45 GMT | 23 |
I am having a tremendously hard time pumping or doing anything else for that matter because Lorelei is such a Mommy's girl. No matter how happy she is, as soon as I hand her off to any of the willing hands in the house she starts to cry and looks at me with desperate and accusing

| Mother's Day present | 13 Mar 2005 07:02 GMT | 2 |
For my first Mother's Day as a mother, my own mother gave me the book she'd used when she breastfed me - the 1963 edition of 'The Womanly Art Of Breastfeeding'. She'd saved it all these years to give me when I became a breastfeeder myself. ;-)
